Re: What is pae and where do I get one?
Hi catweazel. Thankx for the help. I discovered where pae is and how to get one. In VirtualBox click on Settings then on System the on Extended Features: and put a check in Enable PAE/NX So, now LM18.3 boots into the dest top I think because after it boots up the screen becomes scrambled or somethin...

What is pae and where do I get one?
I'm trying to install a 32bit version of Linux Mint 18.3 cinnamon into a free 32bit version of VirtualBox. VB is running in a 64bit version of Windows 7. LM boots up to a point and then I get a text message that says; This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae. Unable to...

Re: A Mint Version of Ubuntu Studio?
lagagnon thanks for your help. One would have to install the rt kernel as well. I was just thinking it would be nice to just download a dvd size .iso and install it. And it would be even better if it had as much software as OpenArtist instead of just the apps in Ubnuntu Studio.
One can dream.

A Mint Version of Ubuntu Studio?
As a long time user of Linux Mint I was wondering if there will ever be a Mint version of Ubuntu Studio? There's not much out there for us creative types for 2D and 3D graphics and composing music. A Mint version would be a lot better than a standard Ubuntu version.

Re: Can anyone resolve my resolution problem?
Thankx for the help Fornhamfred. I tried everything but noting works for 1280 x 1024. None of the new versions of distros seem the be keeping the old driver I need. That's ok though because Puppy and PCLOS still do the high resolution with my ancient video card. My computer is so old it's powered by...

Can anyone resolve my resolution problem?
I have an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 128 PRO video card made in 2001. It looks like LM 7 has the same problem doing 1280 x 1024 that Ubuntu 9.04 has. Is there anyway I can install the old xorg driver for my old video card? Otherwise I'm stuck at just 1152 x 864. May it's time to buy a new video card. Or, may...

(SOLVED) Olympus CAMEDIA D 565 or a card reader
Does anyone know for sure if an Olympus CAMEDIA D 565 Zoom 4.0 Megapixel digital camera will work with gPhoto or DigiKam or any other program in Linux? I looked at the list of compatible cameras in gPhoto and DigiKam but the D 565 isn't on the list. Thankx for any help. PS. I was wondering if Linux ...

Dberg918 the Glacix artwork is excellent. I didn't know Inkscape could do work like that. Do you use GIMP at all?

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy or Merry anything else I don't know about or didn't remember. A special Happy Holidays to everyone on the Linux Mint team and to Ubuntu for providing Linux Mint with an excellent base and to Linus Torvalds and Richard M. Stallman for making Li...

Re: Multisession DVD+R can't be read
I've tried everything I could find on the web and nothing works. I'm putting this on the back burner, setting it aside, relegating it and in general getting on with more pressing matters. Thanks for your help Husse.

Re: KDE 4 Folder View
Mint 6 will be based on Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4 I bet. If you can't wait install Kubuntu 8.10. I used to have Ubuntu 8.04 installed with KDE 3 and when I upgraded online to 8.10 KDE 3 was replaced with KDE 4. I'm going to keep using Mint 5 until KDE 4 is finished.

Re: Multisession DVD+R can't be read
Husse I tried Testdisk and Photorec. They found my hard drives but noting else. How do I get them to see the DVD burner drive? I installed magicrescue. I found man pages on testdisk, photorec and magicrescue. I don't understand any of it. Now I'm looking for web pages that explain these in plain eng...

Re: Multisession DVD+R can't be read
Thanks for the help Husse. I tried Brasero and Konqueror and root Krusader and they can't see the files on the DVD. That's 3.5 GB of things I can't replace. It's at times like this I think about buying a Mac but then I remember how much they cost and I stay with Linux.

Multisession DVD+R can't be read
I made a multisession DVD+R with k3b. I had to reinstall Mint since I made the DVD. I need to put more data files on the DVD but although k3b can see the DVD as a multisession DVD it can't load any files or folders from the DVD. In other words k3b can't see the files and folders on the DVD. Is there...

Re: KDE 4.1.3?
Progress in KDE 4 I just tried the live cd of openSUSE 11.1 beta 5 with KDE 4.1.3. Kubuntu has released the KDE 4.1.3 update in their backports. KDE 4 now has the “hide” feature in it's desktop panel. Not having the hide feature was one of my major objections to using KDE 4 as an everyday desktop. R...

Re: Mint 5 KDE - Wow!
DistroWatch said KDE 4 won't be up to the level of KDE 3 until 2010 or 2011. I formatted over Ubuntu when it replaced my KDE 3 with KDE 4. I'm going to keep Linux Mint 5 CE until KDE 4 is finished. Also, my distro hopping days are over too. Cheers to the Mint team for the great job they do! Mint is ...

Thanks for the help linuxviolin. I tried your suggestions but I couldn't get them to work. I'm still learning about Linux. I've already replaced Mint Debian with Debian 4.0r5 just to see how they compare. maybeway36 you do it all at the command line and I'm always looking for a GUI so I used the pac...

Re: Mint Debian
I spent 10 hours trying out Mint Debian. I couldn't find any installation instructions so I installed Debian first and added the CD to Synaptic. I searched the CD with “mint” and Synaptic installed all the Mint stuff. I also installed KDE 3.x just to see if it would work. It does. I used KDE to set ...
