Share your Mint experience of Lenovo X240 laptop.

Hello, Minters. I want a general-purpose, daily-use, robust, durable laptop with all basic Mint software, plus image manipulation and very light video editing. Definitely DO NOT need the fastest cpu, maybe just an i5. In my research I found a very likely contender for my limited funds (around $150-U...

Re: PC Mag is now telling users about leaving Windows... For LM!

I know enough to really screw things up, but what I really like about Mint, is once it is "dialed in", I am done with it for the most part. 99% of my time is on my forums with Firefox, I do a lot of user support, and therefore, I have to have something that is rock solid, and there is not...

System76 is absolutely wonderful....but unaffordable for me (and I'm sure many others). Sigh  .

Re: M$ selling snakeoil to Linux Users.

Personally, I do not want some half-baked company that is only interested in advertising dollars and collecting personal private information to port their software for linux. Microsoft hates linux and its just an evil plot to destroy our way of life. MS doesn't want to destroy our way of life. It w...

Greetings and guten tag, patfr!

Mint seems to have one of the classiest, overall most polite, and most knowledgeable forums in the linux world. I think you'll enjoy your stay here.

Re: Alarm Clock

Been using orage on xfce for years for all my reminders. I think it can install on any d.e. Has a bit of a learning curve, but super-useful practical features and of course specific date and time (no seconds). Lets you pick whatever audio you want the alarm to play, but pick a short sound file cuz i...

Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

MX is my secondary OS. I've learned Linux from a user perspective since 2010 and tried several distros in those younger days, with Mint always being the "king." I really like the no-nonsense approach and lightness of MX. However, anyone using MX will need to become more familiar with Linux...

Re: Why do newcomers stay with Mint?

I am not an expert, but I am no newcomer. I remember when Slackware was the go to distro, but I have used SUSE, Debian, Arc, Ubuntu, etc, over the years. Frankly speaking, I just want something that works as a general computer...nothing fancy. Linux Mint does that fantastically. Exactly!! Mint is f...
