Re: How to install Plasma 5.7 on Mint 18?

Hi I installed Linux Mint 18 KDE 64bits on my everyday work laptop a couple of months ago. I was so happy with LM 17.3 KDE, but really I'm having too many problems now, and I'm considering changing, just like you guys. That's really too bad because I'm sure the Mint team puts a lot of effort in mak...

Re: Forks: Compiz-MATE 0.8.8, mate-globalmenu 0.7.10 (LMDE)

Hello, is there a way to get Compiz 0.8.8 to work under Mint 14 Mate? Compiz 0.9 in Mint 14 is unity optimized and quite dysfunctional and incomplete in many aspects ( e.G. panel thumbnails broken, window animations broken, seems this is not needed/wanted by unity)), but the compiz 0.8.8 packages h...

gnaishes, try 1. removing the globalmenu panel applet from the panel, then 2. disabling the key: mateconftool-2 --set /apps/mate_settings_daemon/gtk-modules/globalmenu-mate-panel --type bool false 3. log out and log back in 4. re-enable the key mateconftool-2 --set /apps/mate_settings_daemon/gtk-mod...

Sorry for the late replies. for some odd reason I'm no longer getting email-notifications of thread replies. Has the screenshot function setting been fixed in this fork? ie: <printscreen> points to "mate-screenshot" instead of "gnome-screenshot"? Of course.. It's part of the MATE...

Re: [Solved] Ivy bridge randomly freezes

Sure, I ran both 3.4.x and 3.5.x (liquorix) for long times and they performed rather well. My only gripe, power management was no longer as good as in 3.2.3. This is fixed in 3.6.x Ran 3.6 since RC7 -- at least 10days on RC7 (siduction), then 3.6.0 (aptosid), then 3.6.2 and 3.6.3 (liquorix). Not a f...

Is there another new GPG key that doesn't allow me to debuild? That's because I compiled on LMDE w/ UP5 , so basically Debian Testing/Wheezy package versions (or close). I'm surprised though, as I would've thought it would be the other way around (Ubuntu versions being the more recent). Is your Min...

P.S. It there differencies in code beetwen gnome2-globalmenu and ubuntu-appmenu? I can't remember, but i think, that ubuntu-appmenu supports both qt and gtk. Sorrt for my eng At the current state, afaik, besides GTK applications, appmenu also supports QT and XUL apps. Examples of the latter: Firefo...

Ok, thanks for answer.

I edited the post. It may be possible. If you can test and confirm the qt4-gnome-globalmenu works on gnome2 and is stable, I might consider porting it to MATE, soonish. :)

it is possible to add support of qt-apps by mate-globalmenu? Not anytime soon. Only GTK2 apps are supported for now. Sorry. Edit: may be possible, https://gitorious.org/firefox-gnome-globalmenu/qt4-gnome-globalmenu but, as author claims, only tested with QT 4.7 http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globa...

Where are the MATE source deb packages?

I just fixed a (aesthetic) bug in mate-user-share and submitted for pull upstream , and now I want to fix locally, and so I need to rebuild the deb package. However: $ apt-get source mate-user-share Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to...

For everyone who was asking about Compiz, I've forked 0.8.8 (and all its derivatives, including CCSM /python-compizconfig 0.8.4) for MATE, as well as gnome2-globalmenu as mate-globalmenu :) For LMDE, but that shouldn't be a problem for main edition, no? :) http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: Howto install Oracle's Java on LMDE/Debian

Very nice. Thank you for this Craig. :D If I could add, though, the `update-alternatives --config java c ` probably isn't really needed. As javac is the java compiler -- part of the Sun/oracle or the Open -jdk -- isn't at all related to any of the security vulnerabilities, because these affect the J...

Forks: Compiz-MATE 0.8.8, mate-globalmenu 0.7.10 (LMDE)

I've forked Compiz-0.8.8 (and all derivatives) for MATE desktop. This includes a native mateconf backend (replaces gconf), all plugins(main|extra|unsupported), emerald, compiz-bcop, and ccsm 0.8.4, python-compizconfig-0.8.4, fusion-icon-0.1.0. Also forked gnome2-globalmenu , as mate-globalmenu ;) Up...
