Re: mint 17 xfce, atheros ar9565, ath9k, wi-fi unreliable

Try right clicking on your panel.... add applets to the panel. Look for "network manager" in the list and add to panel. If it shows a green dot that means it is installed, but may not be showing in the panel. You should see 2 tabs. There is a search box there to make your search easier. T...

Re: mint 17 xfce, atheros ar9565, ath9k, wi-fi unreliable

I run LinuxMint XFCE, installed the latest few months ago. The wifi network indicator has disappeared from the panel. How to restore it? There are no problems with the card/drivers, because I still can connected to the home wifi network, as it was remembered. Thanks for your help. I have "solv...

Re: Way To Much Bloat In LXDE CE

I actually felt very comfortable with Mint LXDE8 choices, more comfortable than with other LXDE linuxes, such as Lubuntu, sidux with LXDE, or Arch with LXDE which I tried to build myself. For my purposes it is the best LXDE linux, and it may replace on my main notebook the standard Mint (as it has a...

Re: Progress...

I am also a happy user of LXDE Mint 8 since its beta, and would like to help testing the new version. I tried betas of Lubuntu 4.04, but I found Mint LXDE 8 from the box much more usable (and also familiar to me, a long term Mint user). LXDE edition is now a primary OS I am using on my second ultrap...

"A malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session ...

Could not grab your mouse. A malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have just clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus. Try again. Since some time I am getting this message when trying to launch the partition manager or Synaptic by clicking on their ico...

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

@.ee: I found this on launchpad... It seems to be an upstream issue. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/285323 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/273468 Does switching to a VT and back to X fix the keyboard problem? Yes, CTRL + ALT + F6 and CTRL + ALT + F7 &q...

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

I made fresh install, update & upgrade to make sure my problems are reproducible. Unfortunately, Fn-Up to change the brightness locks the keyboard, as described above. The output, as requested: $ lsmod Module Size Used by nls_utf8 9856 2 nls_cp437 13696 2 vfat 18816 2 fat 57376 1 vfat i915 38144...

shane,
I am using external USB optical drive. Maybe this fact makes the difference for Brasero? Will post the rest later.

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

Maybe it helps to localize the problem with the locked keyboard after I hit Fn-Up to change the brightness:
the problem disappears after I go to suspend to RAM with Fn-Esc (still works in this locked up situation) and wake up.

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

I have installed the latest brasero 0.9.1 deb package and librasero-media0 it comes with. I could not see any improvements with burning CD rewritables. The same problem with a mounted CD persists. I have to unmount it manually, and then brasero still doesn't provide me with the option to blank it or...

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

I tried to comment the lines in ~/.fluxbox/startup as you pointed out, but it did not help (both before and after rebooting). In fact, I have established that the actual problem is not that CPU usage grows to 100% after I try to regulate the brightness with Fn-Up (which is the only way on this noteb...

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 Bug Thread

I don't know if it is bug or a hardware specific glitch. I was not using other flavors of Mint on the notebook I am testing Fluxbox Mint now. Strangely, (sometimes?) when I am trying to regulate brightness, the CPU usage suddenly blows to 100% (60% firefox, 40% thunar), one cannot kill FM window, ca...

Re: Linux Mint 6 Fluxbox RC1 released!

Thanks for this long-awaited release! [/color] Somehow I was unable to burn rewritable CD using brasero (the same problem I reported on xfce edition). The workoround for me was: install xfburn, sudo umount /media/cdrom0, blank cd-rw using xfburn, open file to burn in xfburn, burn. Brasero did not w...

Downloaded, installed, and now testing. Many thanks to the developers of this particular flavour of minty linux! First impressions are very positive. I am testing in on the system I was not using before with Mint: old Dell Latitude X300 , Pentium M 1.4GHz 2MB L2 cache, 4200rpm HDD with 33MBs via hdp...

Burned the same files on the same cd-rw disks using xfburn under Crunchbang Linux (ubuntu + openbox). Maybe something need to be improved in XFCE edition? Compared boot time of Crunchbang and felicia-xfce: Crunchbang booted several seconds faster (no surprise, because openbox is much lighter than xf...

Re: How big is your Linux Mint 6 XFCE install?

Mine fresh install is already 3.14GiB big (after I have updated/upgraded and added 100-200MB of other programs and libraries I need).
