Dual Monitor question for LM13 xfce 64 bit
I have a laptop and an extra monitor.
When I plug in the monitor to the laptop, the laptop monitor is exactly the same as the external monitor.
Is there a way to have the extra monitor extend from the laptop monitor?

Why do so many people think XFCE is lightweight?
Maybe it depends on your hardware? That maybe true. But with the hardware that I have and via my experience... XFCE wins without debate. I tried a lot of LinuxMint 13 desktops and XFCE wins on speed alone. EDIT: If the other desktops were faster on my hardware then I would drop XCFE. hardware: gigab...

No Maya startup sound
i only say 64-bit a matter of reference. The differences have more ti do with processing. Actually 32-bit may have some limitations I found it to be more compact and stable and faster.
So the solution may very well be the same.

No Maya startup sound
Once thing I want to mention is I have a 64-bit laptop and so far this hasnt happened on the laptop. This has only happened on the desktop. The laptop has a builtin speaker while the desktop needs to have a speaker plugged in speaker to output sound. The laptop is configured with a lot of customized...

Ok, my sound just went out. The bootup and login soubd work fine bit the VLC audio is silent. This evening I turned off the computer and when I rebooted the sound was gone. I was doing some installation on it all day yesterday and some eclipse/python work. I have everything logged in a gedit journal...

Windows 7 64bit will not install in Virtual Box
Funny thing, after reading this thread I decided to try it myself (Linux Mint host/Windows7 guest). All I did was set up the default new Windows 7 container. I then booted up the virtual box with a Windows 7 iso disk in the CD/DVD. I got a couple of sialogue boxes that said it was more efficient to ...

I agree with axel668.
Linux Mint with the xfce desktop is awesome.
Very light weight and low maintenance and fast.

Where do I find a list of installed programs in Linux Mint
Off the top of my head I cannot remember the command for listing the default repositories or the package list on each individual repository. But since I have a few seconds, I thought I would welcome you with some helpful hints. It takes time to get used to the differences with Windows and Linux. The...

I use xfce 64-bit on a desktop and I went without sound for a while. I do not know what I did if anything to stop the sound. But I have another laptop 64-bit and the sound was fine. I eventually reinstalled on the desktop for other reasons and the sound works fine now. Now I am really careful about ...

I agree with McLovin regarding his suggestion.
Also, bumping isnt really bad as long as it isnt abused.
So you say you are new to Linux.
Are you new to BIOS?
Do you know what it means to boot from a CD/DVD drive instead of the internal harddrive?
Can you boot a live CD or DVD to your computer?
