RTL8191SE issue

Hello, I have had some other postings about this issue, but none of them have provided a resolution. Right now I am using LM10 (64bit) and my wireless works flawlessly (RTL8191SE). I have a Clevo B5100m laptop with 8 gigs of memory and a i5 intel processor. I did a fresh install of LM13 (64bit) on t...

Re: RTL8191SE & Linux Mint 13.

It seems that the community can not assist with this. There are no 64 bit drivers that work. There are many avenues to try, keep looking through my posts and you will find some things to try. Good luck.

Re: How To: Upgrade your kernel, painlessly.

I have an issue with my Realtek rtl8191se wireless card , it work perfectly with LM10 but I did a fresh install of LM13 and it connects and it 30 seconds drops the connection and cannot reconnect. I have been all over the wireless boards and had one suggestion to drop back to an older kernel. Sounds...

The second one is my rtl8191se issue with the wireless, it connects and then disconnects. I realize that is a different issue.

Re: upgrade a dual boot installation

Thanks, I may take a look at it today yet and attempt the LM13 install. I realize some of the features I really liked in LM10 will not be available. (compiz - love the dodge effect for focus on windows and some of the zoom in.) I played with LM13 in the past - issue is I have with it is it doesn't r...

Re: upgrade a dual boot installation

Thanks Dan, I do have a backup of all personally saved files, so that is not a problem. The hard drive was formatted prior to any OS install so I believe there is only the 2 window partitions and no hidden ones by manufacturer. The system uses 8 gigs of physical memory, how do I define size of Swap ...

upgrade a dual boot installation

Hello, I am currently dual booting Windows 7 and LM10. I want to upgrade to LM13 and want to know if it will see the current LM10 setup and over write it with the upgrade or do I have to delete those partitions and then install. I have images of Win7 but not of the dual boot laptop as backup. Thanks.

Re: Libre office

Thanks, part of my hardware is no longer supported in LM13, which I struggled with to a great degree. I have a RTL8191SE wireless issue.(see my other posts) :( I cannot get my built in to work with anything other than LM10. I will continue to work on Libre Office or drop back to Open Office. Thanks ...

RTL8191SE & Linux Mint 13.

Hello, Does anyone know of anyway to get built in wireless on a Clevo B5100M to work? It is RTL8191SE . I have tried using NDIS Wrapper, compat, etc. One suggestion was to load the kernel from LM10 but if I have Cinnamon already installed, is that going to be a problem? I installed LM10 and the wire...

changing icons on left side of popup menu.[Solved]

Hello, I just installed cinnamon on LM13 and the icons on the left side of the popup menu when you click the menu button are not what I want. I don't use firefox so I want some of the icons removed and replaced with shortcuts to the apps I use. (Example - I want to remove Firefox and place Chrome th...

Re: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" RC released!

I know it did not work in LM12, so I am downloading the ISO now and will try it. Does the kernel support the wifi - rtl8191se? This was an issue for me with linux mint 12 and had to use a dongle for wireless connectivity. I do not want to use that if possible. Thank you. RTL8191SU broke on Linux 3.2...

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue

Just borrowed a N10 USB adaptor. I reinstalled LM1o prior to borrowing the network adaptor. Installed the live CD, connected to Internet and installed LM12 64 bit. (screenshot of live CD with Internet access attached - pardon the poor resolution, it was taken with a cell phone.) After installation a...

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue

Thanks for the info, I will try that because my n10 USB adaptor overheated and is now dead. I am just frustrated that the kernel is not built to handle the Realtek hardware right away. Thanks, if I get chance to try it, I will and post the results here. Did you get compat wireless from a repository?

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue

Asus n110 usb adaptor worked without issue. I have tried going back to previous kernel as described in one of the reply posts above but that did not work. The adaptor solved the issue and I don't mind using the USB port for that. Thanks to all who replied to this post and at this point the thread ca...

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue

I contacted Realtek and it seems their driver works only on 32 bit. Since I have a quad core and 8 gigs of memory, I would be wasting a lot of resources by going to 32 bit OS for Linux Mint. I will obtain a USB network adaptor by ASUS that is supposed to work without issue. I will advise of that als...

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue

Ok, just to let you know, I tried just using the Windows driver and that does not work. Hopefully this week I will attempt to use the older kernel. I will post the info here.
Thank you.
