Re: Dual boot issues

If this happens to anyone else, I think I have found an easier way. I used a free program called RescuTux. It is a live cd specifically used to recover MBR and GRUB, worked like a charm the last time I had this dual boot issue. I had many other problems and since have just used designated hard drive...

I though that the username was mint.
I too thought it was just "mint" for the user name and no password

Re: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" released!

I too like a few others am having issues with my internet. I use a hard wired ethernet connection, and have done all troubleshooting possible to fix it. When i boot into my Windows 7 machine my internet is flawless, but with mint 13 it is hit or miss. I boot into mint 12 and all is fine and working ...

Re: Regular Freezing

Banshee was my main problem. I switched back to VLC after a thread on here led me to the correct plug in that I needed and I have not had an issue since. I'm guessing it definately depends on each machine and how the hardware and drivers co-exist with each other.

Re: Wrong colours on youtube

So does that mean that I was pretty close with my assumption that it may be a driver issue? I notice the thread mentioned a lib patch, so I was kinda close?.....oh and long live ATI Radeon :D

Re: Mint on a Macbook

jsbollman, Well done. I turned my girl on to linux about a year ago and thats all she has used since, first ubuntu 10.10, then we tried ubuntu 11.10 and hated it, so we switched to mint 12 and couldn't be happier. 31Rl, Keep on grinding, I found that if you just at least dual boot it so she can try ...

Re: Wrong colours on youtube

Just a fellow newbie's take on it here, but have you tried re installing the drivers for your video card, and maybe try another video to see if the same issue still occurs? It may just be your video card as well, if you have the access to another one maybe try that in your machine and see what happe...

Re: Monthly Stats - January 2012

As soon as I master WINE I will no longer have a need for windoze, and Mint is defiantely going to be my linux distro of choice. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Re: Regular Freezing

Not a problem bud, and sometimes I definately agree about the rollback option. Then I just take the time to find a way around it or to use the current version right and I'm always glad that I didn't.

z06gal,

Thank you very much for your response, that plug in was just what I needed. I hated having to use banshee, I'm very glad to have my VLC back. Thanks again.

Re: Drag and drop from the main application menu

in the top menu bar there is a shield icon, this is your quick link to update manager. click on it to open it up and get updates. There also should be a selection for update manager in the lower menu.

Re: Regular Freezing

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
I think this should do it, it's what I use and seems to do the trick.

Re: Linux crashed twice in 2 weeks

I am having the same problem with freezing. I posted in another thread similar to this as well. I still have not found an answer but hope the developers can come up with something. It's not bad enough for me to change distros or anything, just a little annoyance.

Re: Drag and drop from the main application menu

joannemullen,

I am currently up to date with all my updates and still see no fix in this issue on my system. I have been reading many different reviews and forums and it just seems like some people can and some people can't, although I am not sure how that is possible....

Re: Regular Freezing

Same thing is happening to me, but it seems to happen more often if I have multiple apps running, specifically media type such as Banshee, Audacity, Brasero, etc. I hate it because mint seems so well layed out I dont want to change distros, I just wanna find out whats going on. Im not planning on ch...

Re: Drag and drop from the main application menu

Charliehmint, I am having the same issue when looking for a solution. It's like all the documentation states that in Mint12 you can drag and drop or at least create shortcuts to the desktop by right clicking the application extension in the menu, and I have heard of people being able to do this "rig...
