I went through the chechlist liked you asked but I am still getting the message. No you did not go through the checklist. You have at least one thing missing from your smb.conf. Edit smb.conf as root: gksu gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf Add the following line to the [global] section right under the work...

Samba trouble :|

Ok, so I installed a new router yesterday then today I tried to access my windows 7 desktop computer through my Linux Mint laptop. Everytime I try to acess it, first a window pops up and says "Opening "computername" You can stop this operation by clicking cancel." then shorty after I get this window...

It did work with windows, had no problem with it. The tv does have HDMI but I do not have a HDMI card for my PC.

Even if I save it, the display still doesn't fit my tv screen. I have tried all resolutions and none of them will make the display fit my screen

I haven't messed with the Xorg.conf file any, here is what it looks like:

No, since I have it working on the tv I took the other monitor off. I want to make it where I only have the tv hooked up and no other monitor.

If you use the nvidia driver you can't use the Monitors program - please use NVidia X Server Settings instead which you can find in the menu. aahh thank you AlbertP, once I used the X server settings the screen works.
