If that does not help, uninstall update manager from Software Center and restart, then reinstall the update manager. Please Note - As you mentioned yo...

Re: Computer repair shop won't fix mine because I use Linux

Its just harassment meted out because they know he is an advanced user and probably not a recurring one, cuz a> He is using a 10 year old laptop and managed to keep it good condition and ...

xenopeek, It is completely okay that you include libreoffice as default distro if u think majority users use it, but when u have firefox as default, u do have other browsers in the repo, right? Whats wrong with keeping openoffice in the repo's? We are keeping additional software which ubuntu and deb...

Re: Ethernet works with Live DVD, not working after install

If the live dvd works, it should not be a driver issue.. except.. a> Check if your network settings shows airplane mode on b> If you had turned on updates while install, it probably updated the kernel along with some updates during the install. Go to update manager, click view history of updates to ...

Intel IGD (N10 graphics) on Atom N455 based netbook issue

Hi, I am using a Toshiba netbook with Atom N455 proc and Intel IGD renderer, everything works fine until I use the software manager. Re: No sound + random freezes

First and foremost, get driver issues out of the way..

use a live usb to boot in and 'test' the sound. if it works the issue is definitely with the installation, possibly a reinstall can fix it.. although if it is an issue with the installation, further advice here can be more helpful..

cheers

Re: <SOLVED> inxi returns "false" information

Its not because of hyperthreading, the CPU speed in BIOS is set to dynamic instead of performance which means for lesser activity, the CPU slows down to conserve power. set the CPU mode to performance or full speed and it will always show 1.6GHz, I have an N455 which is dynamic from 1GHz to 1.6GHz, ...

Re: Issues installing Mint 12 KDE

There are 2 possible issues here, most probable being turning sata mode to compatibility before installing the linux. As long as you are not using raid, it should be good. Some SATA controllers like JMicron and ATI cannot boot into AHCI mode. Turn it to compatibility in the BIOS and then give it a t...

Re: Clam Antivirus

Yes, as someone rightly pointed out, u would not need an AV in Linux, however if you want to keep it, just ensure that the antivirus definitions are up to date. The GUI and the engine would be the most stable one implemented for the edition u use, it will update automatically if u have auto updates ...

Re: Clam Antivirus

Hey,
I am a new user too, dont know the terminal commands but you can go to software manager and search clam and then select all the options that show installed and hit uninstall. It will work just as well. Restart the software manager and check clam again, it should show not installed.
