SOLVED - Bluetooth Connection to Bose Soundlink II

I've had no issues connecting my various Bluetooth enabled devices to my Bose Soundlink II speaker, including my Windows 8 (partition). Using LMDE (regardless of the DE), recognizing and pairing the Bose speaker was fine, however, subsequent connection attempts were brief and ultimately failed. I co...

Re: Five reasons for what I'm leaving Linux Mint

I'm running both LMDE and Windows 8 on my T-61 laptop (with a second monitor). I started trying/using Linux when MS announced that they're dropping WinXP support. Then when Windows 8 upgrades were being offered for $40, I went for it. For my day to day computing needs, Linux fits the bill and I find...

Check out Airdroid. Being web-based, it works great in both Linux and Windows environments.

Re: LM 13 Maya XFCE vs LMDE Xfce

I've been using LMDE/XFCE for quite some time now. I've found it to be quite fast and very stable. The last major update (UP5) went without a hitch. I haven't received constant updates but whatever I have received, there haven't been any issues.

Re: Thoughts On Windows 8 After Upgrading Partition

Thanks for your thoughts Fajah. I've read other 'not so glowing' reports about Win 8. I'm sure I'll upgrade within the $39.99 window just to familiarize myself for future troubleshooting jobs but with some trepidation. Thanks again. I definitely recommend installing http://classicshell.sourceforge....

Re: Successfully Upgraded XP Partition to Windows 8

Fajah, I, like you, use Windows but rarely, perhaps LMDE 90% to Windows 10%. I've been considering the upgrade, mainly because I "repair" many Windows machines and they will be popping up shortly. What do you think of the new UI? Go here for my initial thoughts: http://forums.linuxmint.co...

Thoughts On Windows 8 After Upgrading Partition

Windows XP has basically served all my computing needs. With support for it going way in the near future, I decided to try Linux at the beginning of this year ..... mostly out of curiosity, the leaning experience, and to try and avoid the cost of a Windows upgrade. After trying various Linux version...

Inside Linux Mint Debian Edition launch a terminal window and run

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
This should make Grub detect the changed Windows version and display it correctly on next reboot.

Kind regards,
Karl

That worked great! Thanks.

Successfully Upgraded XP Partition to Windows 8

As an experiment, I decided to take advantage of Microsoft's current upgrade price and upgrade my Windows XP partition to Windows 8 Pro. I have to say that the upgrade was successful and without issue. My LMDE partition is totally intact and dual booting works fine. The only thing is that the Grub m...

Re: Moving Apps To Workspaces

AFTER you've upgraded to 1.6, here's some themes. They will not work with 1.4. http://packages.linuxmint.com/pool/main/c/cinnamon-themes/cinnamon-themes_2012.11.06_all.deb I upgraded to 1.6.4 some time ago and just installed the "Themes" package. Thanks for the link. I still don't see the...

Re: Moving Apps To Workspaces

You just scroll down to 'move to another workspace' and select the workspace you wish to move it to. very easy. so simple. You can do that in Mate and XFCE, but 'move to another workspace' is not in the Cinnamon menu. All I see in Cinnamon is "move to right workspace" and "show on al...

Re: pulseaudio needs to go

Nobody had or offered a solution. The comments have always been: Must be the hardware. I'm by no means a Linux or audio expert, but my experience is that hardware has something to do with the overall audio experience. The external USB sound card that I was using without a problem in Windows (which ...

Moving Apps To Workspaces

In XFCE and Mate, you can right click on a the tab of an open app and move it to a predefined workspace. For me, this is simple an fast. By the looks of it, Cinnamon only allows movement of an app to the "workspace to the right" or "visible on all workspaces. Although drag and drop wo...

Re: Changing ALT-TAB To Another Shortcut - My Solution

I found an easy and fairly quick way to set up what I need. XFCE and Mate allow me to do this. Here's what I did: Initial Setup: 1) I went into the Workplace Settings ( in the XFCE Settings Manager) and set the number of workspaces to 23. I kept Workspace 1 as my main, then added and renamed 22 othe...

zerozero wrote:no problem :D
first you have to make sure that

Code: Select all

apt update
finishes without any error and then the same for

Code: Select all

apt dist-upgrade

if you see errors in any of those steps wait for a quieter period to update.

That's great, thanks :)
