Re: cifs mount problems
updates: I have double (triple) checked the syntax in fstab, even deleting the row at all and rewriting a couple of times, even copying and pasting the text from the (successful) command from the CLI... no luck the fstab line MUST be correct, otherwise it should not work both with the implicit "...

random logouts
hi all since a few weeks, i'm experiencing an erratic behaviour of my system: sometimes (mostly on double-clicking on a filename in the filemanager, but sometimes on other actions, or even doing nothing) the system logs out from my session, and in a few seconds returns to the login screen, exactly a...

Re: X not working after upgrading
update: i'm still laughing.... 6 hours trying to get the system working, and practically i obtained all the possible combinations you can have with 4 monitors: 1, 2, 3 or 4 working, cloned or extended, 2 on the same video board, or 1 on a video board and 1 on the other, reversed, upside down....EVER...

Re: X not working after upgrading
Don't panic too early, especially when you have a current problem and a possible solution for it. :) :D especially when i've another pc to work with    anyway... unfortunately i skipped the step with clonezilla... so i've a system that is working with only two "clone...

Re: X not working after upgrading
@killer de bug: you are right: what i meant is that with the new kernel the only way to have a X running was to delete the xorg.conf, using the default vesa modes .. but no way to have fglrx drivers working... @kurotsugi: yes, i'm running LMDE (everything as in my signature) actually, i didn't check...

Re: How much harder to use and "rough edged" is LMDE
hi graeme in my little experience (i'm not a geek nor a newbie) it is not so different for other self-claiming "easy" distribution... some skill in the comman line interface helps, nevertheless the only thing is annoying each time i upgrade is the management of my multi-monitor settings (m...

Re: memory consumption
mmmh.. seems not my case: the number shown in the system monitor is equivalent to the "-/+ buffers/cache" of the "free" command once the physical 4GB are full, the swap start to be used, and the system slows down, actually....even if no application is running ...but i will contin...
