Re: Unwanted uppercase displayed in FF *and* Chrome

... It may be the site is using a font that is not installed or not implemented well on your system. This was closer to a solution than I realized (so thanks again, @igor83). The problem was that for SOME reason, my system starting confusing names of a "standard" font with a "titling" (all-caps) fo...

Re: Unwanted uppercase displayed in FF *and* Chrome

How bizarre. Which sites? I think it is a site-specific problem. It may be the site is using a font that is not installed or not implemented well on your system. It is bizarre! It must be site-related, but not in the way you suggest. I use Wolf CMS for quite a few sites of my own. In the backend, O...

[Solved] Unwanted uppercase displayed in FF *and* Chrome

For the past couple days I have been getting somewhat random display of UPPERCASE transforms on certain sites. Symptoms and observations: - Seems to be mostly (but not exclusively) Wordpress.com blogs; - occurs in Firefox 21 and Chrome 27 (also Seamonkey), but not Opera 12.15 (this is all the browse...

Re: Gedit 2.30 from LM Xfce 14 for LM 13 LTS?

... But I can't guarantee it will work, it is pretty much bound to have dependencies that are not present on your system. You can always try it though. Otherwise use another text editor. I always use Leafpad, gedit has too many bugs - sorry, features... Hmmm... Wonder if it's worth it. I'm only an ...

Gedit 2.30 from LM Xfce 14 for LM 13 LTS?

I'm on LM 13 Xfce, and would like to stick with it for LTS (this is an old(er) machine). I see that one of the improvements in LM 14 Xfce is that: Gedit 2.30 replaced Gedit 3. It's a more mature/stable alternative,... Question: How would I go about getting the new (old?!) 2.30 version in LM 13? I ru...

Re: Thunar 1.6 - when to expect update for LM 13 Xfce?

You have to add the PPA for Thunar 1.6.... (Its from XFCE 4.12, MInt is at 4.10) . . . OK - so I did need the new/extra PPA  Just ran those commands: a lot of stuff got updated! But Thunar is indeed now at 1.6.1, a good outcome, and everything else seems to be working still (phew!), al...

Thunar 1.6 - when to expect update for LM 13 Xfce?

I'm a very happy user of LM 13 Xfce (LTS). As I understand it, this version has Xfce 4.10, and the version of Thunar I've got is 1.4.0. I have seen a report of the updated Thunar (1.6) which has some great upgrades, especially tab support 8) among others. Question: I do regular updates on my system,...

Re: Workspace wallpapers

FWIW - here's my experience (LM 13 Xfce on Toshiba Satellite Pro A100). Wallpapoz worked very well, easy setup, etc. BUT :? I'm a Conky user, and on my (old) hardware, the slooow screen refresh on switching workspaces was something less than painful, but fairly annoying all the same. Not Wallpapoz's...

P.S. here the link (work in 32 and 64) https://launchpad.net/~ikoinoba/+archive/ppa/+build/3177856 **Goto archive for .6.2 package** Got a link for 0.6.2, J.Jay? I can't find the "archive" link any where. Googling seems not to help. :? This is the only (I think) aspect of Xfce that has let me down ...

Re: Status of XFCE in Debian/Ubuntu

I agree. App Finder makes a nicer menu than xfce appmenu.... ... Wonder if '4.10 app finder' will work stand alone in 4.8 (old eyes like the icon view  and sizable) Does anyone in these parts have experience of Cardapio for doing this sort of thing? I saw it mentioned on the Xfce forum , and ...

Re: Mint 13 LXDE. When?

I have an old pc with Mint 12 LXDE on it and love how it performs. I don't think XFCE will be a fit for it. I guess I'm going to have to install lubuntu if wanted to upgrade. Really don't want to do it since I really like Mint. XFCE maybe is more in demand compared to LXDE but there are still a sub...

Re: Rave Review for LM 13 Xfce

I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised by LM 13 Xfce. I was loathe to leave LXDE behind (I had been running LM 12 LXDE), but wanted to get in on an LTS release for my aging Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 (now over 6 years old). LM 13 Xfce was my obvious choice. If anything, Xfce is running "lighte...

Re: How to change the default terminal colors in Mint 13 Xfc

If you check the section on "Colorization" in this article: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-tip-prompt/ that should tell you what you want to know. You should save this in a .bashrc file in your home directory. For further fun, have a look at the thread on "what's in your bashrc" -...

Re: Mint 13 LXDE. When?

Let's aknowledge that Linux Mint 12 LXDE was one of the great releases and still serviceable for a time. Hear, hear! Would have loved to have had a LTS version of it. Sigh! But I need to set up a new system and I have already downloaded Linux Mint 13 KDE and will give that a try. Of the LM 13 relea...

Re: Window management problems (LM 13 XFCE)

UPDATE: I eventually got a "fix" for the titlebar-double-click problem on the #xfce IRC channel (thanks to eithan and killermoehre). It turns out it's an old bug (?): https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7808 (Should that alread be fixed in Xfce 4.10??) So for me, increasing the double-click ti...

[Solved] Window management problems (LM 13 XFCE)

I'm looking to replace LM 12 LXDE (sniff!) with an LTS option, and XFCE is the obvious candidate. I've been spending extended time on XFCE session from live USB, and there is just one problem I've got with it: double-clicking on the titlebar of a window does nothing, even though Settings > Window Ma...

Re: Mint 13 Maya Xfce is in testing! Woo hoo!

EDIT: Sorry, it was an easy solve. Just had to set the workspace margins for Workspace 1 to 0 all the way around. Glad you posted this -- thanks! I was going nuts looking for that setting! I'm used to finding it elsewhere in LXDE. It seems (to me, anyway) that a margin of 10 all round is odd...
