Re: Anyone using KDE 4.9?

I also want to find a way to upgrade to 4.9. Mint is great and all but the kde support isn't very good. Well, can't really blame mint for that, I guess its mostly debian to blame as its very slow to update to the latest versions of kde. If only there was better kde support in mint debian, one option...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP6

I have a small question... I am already on mint debian. Been running it for more than a year now, I however use KDE extensively, and therefore world really like my kde to be always up to date so I get the newest and best of KDE. I am very interested in this version of LMDE as a result, however I am ...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

My gnome 3, cinnamon and KDE get extremely sluggish when my computer is not connected to a network/internet. I do not understand what the cause of this could be, is it possible that simply being connected to a network can enhance the performance of these DE's or could this issue be something more to...

Re: Moving to KDE from Cinnamon/Mate on Maya

When I originally installed KDE over Mint 12, it seemed quite slow so I stayed with Mate. I then tried all the Mint 13 DE's off the CD's and decided to try KDE again, but this time using a clean install. I find it to be quite fast and very stable. I'm a relatively new Linux user and have found that...

Re: Moving to KDE from Cinnamon/Mate on Maya

I added it through Synaptic Package Manager. Just search for KDE and it will add all the other required packages. I am not a big fan of this version of KDE, but it is nice to have. Yup. Finally I did that too. Tried out the kde but painfully slow. Revert back to mate. Sent from my HTC One X using T...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

Thank you all for your suggestions. I did try MATE but did not like the big fonts when I change the default theme, I don't know if there is a way of fixing that. There probably is. I have seen nothing of the sort. I prefer MATE, because it has very good, functional launch panels, like Gnome Classic...

Thank you all for your suggestions. I did try MATE but did not like the big fonts when I change the default theme, I don't know if there is a way of fixing that. I will try to see if I can fix this, I am otherwise getting a liking to lxde, it's so light and fast! Srolling on windows is so smooth I'm...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I have been running LMDE Cinnamon on my 32bit 1.6 ghz Amd athlone processor, 3gb ram machine. Although I like Cinnamon very much, it doesn't quite agree with my driver as it often shows its lag when playing videos/ watching movies, especially fast paced action films with a higher frame rate. I have ...

Re: Cinnamon Extras PPA (updated April 16)

cinnamon-applet-windowiconlist has had a major update and went from to great to greater, everybody using it should do a system update to receive the changes (open Update Manager/Synaptic or type sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade in terminal) I wish I could use it, but I had to remove it b...

Re: Cinnamon Extras PPA (updated April 15)

You can say that again :) And thanks, downloaded minty and I have the default conky lua. Really great work with conky, as for me I don't think I'm ready yet to start making my own modifications and editions, I think I'll stick with the default version for now. Cinnamon really is close to the gnome 3...

Re: Cinnamon Extras PPA (updated April 15)

I really like the applets for Cinnamon, this is really promising and only something great is going to come out of Cinnamon. I'm now having a problem of not having enough space on my cinnamon panel for the window list, so I also use a cairo-dock. Works better than I thought actually, it's and occasio...

Re: Cinnamon weather applet

I thought it was in synaptic since most of the applets that were on the website were showed up on synaptic. It's a ppa: I came across that can be added for easy access to the applets, themes and extensions : http://www.webupd8.org/2012/04/cinnamon-themes-applets-and-extensions.html I've managed to s...

Re: Cinnamon weather applet

@FDF Okay I think I have messed this up really badly. I looked through synaptic for the package of the applet and whenever I type "weather" and "cinnamon" nothing shows up. When I look up "weather" other weather applets show up, for MATE Desktop and Gnome and also some lib packages which are indicat...

Cinnamon weather applet

Hi there, I'm new here and am still a noob. Currently I'm running on an updated version of LMDE, was a tough work but somehow finally managed it (Long story cut short). Anyways I'm still getting my feet wet and seeing whether I would use it in the long run. I'm however having trouble setting up the ...
