It seems that there is nothing wrong (no errors messages about wifi).
Are you using network-manager? If so, delete all wireless profiles and then create a new one.
You can also try wicd, another popular wireless manager.

Re: Wifi doesn't work and Shutdown problems
As to the shutdown problem, you can save your documents, exit all programs and then run sudo halt in terminal to see if it shutdowns correctly. As to the wifi. Where did you get the drivers: use "Additional drivers" or download from somewhere else. Because I'm not familiar with Boardcom ch...

Re: clevo b5100 Realtek rtl8191se driver issue
Thanks for the info, I will try that because my n10 USB adaptor overheated and is now dead. I am just frustrated that the kernel is not built to handle the Realtek hardware right away. Thanks, if I get chance to try it, I will and post the results here. Did you get compat wireless from a repository...

This also happens on my flash disk some times.
You can let windows check your disk and see if it happens again.

Re: Wireless connection is slow and unstable
Have you installed the wireless driver from Realtek? If not, go to http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false and find the driver. And this page http://www.chayx.net/2011/06/how-to-install-realtek-rtl...

It seems the signal is rather weak. I assume that is why your connection is slow.

Re: Wifi connected - no internet - works on other router
Can you log into your router?
I had the same issue sometimes. I could access my local network, but couldn't access the public network.
After emailing the router's manufacture, it told me to disable 11n and use 11g mode instead.
The situation hasn't happened so far.

I used the same chip before. It worked smoothly in Mint 12 after installing compat-wireless.
You can also download the driver for linux from Realtek's website. It also works.

Re: /home locations after upgrade
Just boot into recovery mode, copy your home folder to the new location and then modify /etc/fstab
You should avoid using the same name in both systems. This is what I do.
And also, do not hibernate one system and then boot into another, which may destroy your data.

Re: Goldendict icon missing
I wonder whether there is something wrong with goldendict or gnome, for when I am using opensuse 12.1 with gnome 3, the golendict icon appears normally. And I also discovered the ibus icon which is beside other extension icons in opensuse is at the right bottom panel along with other old application...
