Also many threads are dated and apparently many repos no longer avaiable. - -Latitude E6320 running LM 17.1 KDE. System is up to date except for items listed as 3 or 4 in update manager. Sorry...

Re: VLC vhs to digital
1. Guvcview seems to have done the trick for now. Higher resolution causes video artifacts (tearing) but mid setting seems ok. Had to tinker with audio settings and cannot hear audio in real time while monitoring video but audio is now being captured in the video file. Amazing that VLC could not han...

Life cycle?
LM 17.1 KDE has been a great tool for me - still using it.
1.Any thoughts on LM 20 / comparison to 17?
2. Anything close to the KDE version?
Thanks

Ouch! File xfer AGAIN!!
Just went through this a few months ago with Android 6.x!!!! Inspiron running Linux Mint 17.1 KDE. Referring to USB cable transfer in this post. This time I can transfer files (specifically PDF) from laptop to LG v20 running Android 8 x. But unable to transfer files from cell phone to laptop via sam...

Re: Android 6.0 file transfer broken
Yes developer options toggled on but after upgrade usb debugging is greyed out. There appear to be about 30 more dev options since upgrade. What use is it if theyre greyed out? I used to have that option available and turned on. Will keep trying.
Thanks

Re: Android 6.0 file transfer broken
Sorry. File transfer via USB. Used Airdroid for a while but no longer (TLTE too long to explain). I'm reading about inability to access sd card in 6.0 phone but I always had access to xfer files to/from internal phone memory and sd card ...now neither. Looks like easiest quickest file xfer will be s...

LM 17.1 GPT and 4TB external drive
Running LM 17.1KDE 64 bit on Dell Inspiron N5010. Don't think I have USB 3.0 hdware. Would like to use a loose WD 4TB for occasional audacity .aup and gp3 and mp4 video files accessed via USB. (Drive not in a case - just accessed by a USB adapter kit) Been out of the picture for quite a while and no...

Re: Chromium pages show untrusted (hint?)
Looks like the solution here is to not use Chromium. Tried i386 version of chromium on the 64 bit install with no luck. For some reason running LM17.1 KDE 32 bit live chromium is fine but would like to take advantage of the 64 bit capability of the hardware and since everything eventually will go 64...

So.... 2 Laptops and a desktop with LM 17.1 KDE 64bit - all versions of Chromium up to date not working (google, youtube and everything else untrusted. Doe...

Re: Chromium pages show untrusted
Just saw some ca-certificates in update manager. Info looked like exactly what I need. Downloaded them - nothing! Still receiving the https with strikout and "your connection is untrusted" error. There does not seem to be any way three separate installs of LM 17.1 KDE on three different ma...

Can't imagine 3 separate installs on another laptop and a desktop all being bad. Will look into your suggestions.

Re: [SOLVED] synaptic starred items?
Thanks for the reply. With all due respect - the old Synaptic GUI method of seeing old version and new version side by side with right click capability to upgrade seems to be a better method. Maybe I missed something. Now with the panel updater one must scroll through all the update packages to find...

[SOLVED] synaptic starred items?
In the past, starrred items in Synaptic used to mean upgradeable packages. Now however google search shows that they are new packages available in the repos. Right click menu doesnt show "upgrade" option. The packages with yellow star show "old version" and "new version"...

Re: Chromium unusable
