Re: Nvidia Optimus (Bumblebee?)
Anyways, I hard LMDE does not support Optimus NVIDIA cards? Someone on IRC told me to use Bumblebee... I tried what I could understand about the tutorial, but even after installing stuff and all that... It still didn't work! D: So could someone please better explain to me how to install Optimus/Bum...

It should run smoothly but...
Performance and efficiency will be far superior running windows

With Linux in mind I would pick something without hybrid graphics...HP recommends Windows® 7.

Re: Steam?
Forget it... Gamer's wont switch to a free OS to play those ancient source games.. L4D2 is well designed and quite fun but source already felt dated back when it came out. Announcing steam for Linux with such an old game is just sad. I'd be impressed if they announced Half Life 3 on a brand spanking...

Are you using a live DVD literally.. I mean have you tried with a pen too?
If you install the last version that ran and simply update it you should be good to go?

Re: Mint-Xtra - updated icon theme for Mint
They identify mint because they are green but they do look a bit old and out of place compared to everything else, its just an opinion.bimsebasse wrote:The folders are more or less what identifies Mint-X, if I changed the folders it wouldn't be an updated Mint-X, it would be a different theme.

Re: Fresh install, dirty system?
Maybe it was dangerous at some point, seems fine to me now. I just find it strange that after formatting partitions and installing from scratch the system had that much junk in it.. its a considerable amount of space too, the number of the beast

Fresh install, dirty system?
How much does bleachbit clean from your system after a fresh install? I noticed how it always wiped more junk the first time I ran it so today decided that it would be the first app to install and run after formatting and installing LMDE 201204 on a desktop. Selected all options except memory and it...

Re: installing using usb or cd/dvd media?
I believe everyone uses a pen drive these days... there is no point burning disks anymore. Unetbootin works on both windows and Linux but there's also something out there called pendrivelinux or something like that. Once your LMDE is installed you have an image writer by default along with backup to...

Re: Installing 201204 Debian for first time!
Those instructions were for an empty drive, you don't setup a boot partition when you dual boot with Windows. After you setup the partitions in gparted you have to click apply or whatever it is for changes to take effect, then back at the installer you refresh and select where to put the swap, root ...

Re: LMDE Sharing a printer (home network)
Its a fresh UP4 final install... the laptop is the RC but everything is updated, the error probably has something to do with the UI... but like I said all the options are ticked, everything matches.

Re: LMDE Sharing a printer (home network)
In Debian Mint ( at least the XFCE version ) Samba is pretty much broken by default so you should have done this first: sudo apt-get install libsmbclient sudo apt-get install smbclient sudo apt-get install python-smbc Then edit smb.conf as root: gksu gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf Add the following line...

I'll keep talking to myself and see where that gets me... and I'll go editing this post along the way. For starters I tried using the 2 comps running LMDE. I've found this old topic >> http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=28397 Changing settings in CUPS interface (localhost:631) give...
