sound preview scroll wheel volume control

I LOVE the sound preview feature when I mouseover a music file in Mint. It occurred to me the other day, when I put the cursor over a file and heard part of the song and then moved the cursor to change the sound volume, (of course when i put the cursor back on the music file it started playing from ...

Re: possible virus?Mint 7.0 Gloria Mint4Win dual boot with Vista

We did a normal install of Mint 7.0 Gloria, letting it use the whole hard disk, after specifying that i should format the HDD to ext. 3 files system. When the install got to about 20% of the files copied, the weirdest thing happened: my friend got loads of different windows opening on her screen, ev...

Re: possible virus?Mint 7.0 Gloria Mint4Win dual boot with Vista

She had the problem at first in the IE 8 browser in her vista OS. She had this problem anytime she is on internet for around a year now. We installed the Mint 7.0 Gloria through Mint4Win yesterday - and immediately have the same problem in Firefox in Linux Mint. It seems too much of a coincidence th...

(SOLVED)possible virus?Mint 7.0/WinVista Mint4Win dual boot

I've been trying to help out a friend of mine who has problems with her desktop computer running Vista. The machine runs fine, but as soon as she has a browser open, she keeps getting dozens of pop-up browser windows offing help about whatever other application she uses (it was yahoo messenger, but ...

Re: Helena made YouTube and other Flash choppy.

Just adding my voice here. In Helena, the flashplayer plugin freezes every browser I can think of trying (FF, Galeon, Opera, Konqueror, Chromium). I can watch flash video ok, but if I click another video before the first has run its course, the browser freezes and has to have it's process killed and...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

..I notice flash video playing is taking lots of memory with frequent freezes of firefox. I had four flash video frames running at once on sporting events. I had about two crashes per hour. Video card temp seems ok though. Firefox freezes are not unique to Mint 8 RC1 or for that matter to Linux in ...

Re: Helena wallpaper

I also like it, but do you have a version without the Linux Mint logo? Just the writing "Helena". Thanx. Sorry, i seem to have mislaid it or forgot to save that version No problem, inchkape, thanks. And what about the original photo? I mean the colored one without "Helena"? :) Sorry for bothering y...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

Just for the information of the group: I had a computer fry on me because of the video card getting overheated with mint8. I can confirm this because I swapped hard disks to another tower and the card (different one but nvidia) was so hot the plastic lugs melted and the heatsink fan fell off. The c...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

Again, not sure if this is a bug or not: I just had my first fsck file system check at log in. The little notice telling me so was flashing on and off, but there was no progress information (x % done) as there used to be. it flashed for about 15 seconds, then the log-in took place as normal

Here is the wallpaper rather than a screenshot : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1158236/Helenaelegance.JPG If anyone would like to improve upon the idea using my original photo of the stone wall (Crete, Gortyna) please let me know. My efforts with Gimp are clumsy and simplistic. I also like it, but do you...

Re: Helena wallpaper

I like it. Great reference to Helena of Troy. :P Could you post a 'clean' original for us? In case, anyone else wants to download it. Or a link to where we might find it? Leave the LinuxMInt logo and the word 'Helena' ... but leave out the personal taskbar and icons. Thank you!! Here is the wallpap...

Re: Helena wallpaper

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but its Helen of Troy, not Helena. In fact Helen in Greek is Ἑλένη – Helénē. "Helena" actually has a different meaning: http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Helena.html "Helena" is actually the latin form of Helen. If we want the Greek form, we sho...

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

I installed Mint 8.0 Helena RC1 on my desktop comp as my main OS (I know I shouldn't but it's the only way I find bugs) and all seemed fine until this morning. I wanted to install skype and clicked the software manager entry in the main menu: Nothing happened. Then I clicked synaptic. This time I h...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa RC2 (BETA 048) a minor bug or two

I'm using a HP dv6648 laptop. Core2duo 2.2 with 2GB RAM. I did a clean install of Elyssa RC2 the other day. The only "bug" I found is that the wifi switch on the front of my comp shows red when switched on instead of blue as it should. It worked fine under Daryna. Second slight problem is Galeon bro...
