Re: Can not receive files from phone/bluetooth

As far as I know, by default receiving a file from a bluetooth device is not possible in Linux Mint. To enable file receiving, install obexftp and Blueman . Then click on bluetooth applet on Gnome Top Panel and make sure that “Device visibility” is on. Files can now be received which will be located...

Re: Customized Mint 13 with gnome shell as default DE

Did you use Remastersys or Relinux? I think I read somewhere Relinux is better for this sort of job. I made a custom distribution as well (with Remastersys), but ran into similar problems. I used Remastersys and successfully created a disc containing two environments. But the problem is that defaul...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

My favourite DE is Gnome Shell. I started using Linux with Mint 12 and since then, i fall in love with Gnome Shell. I have tried various other DE. Cinnamon, Openbox, Gnome2 are outdated in matter of looks and are for old school people. Whether you agree or not, Cinnamon looks somewhat like Windows X...

Customized Mint 13 with gnome shell as default DE

I have created remastered Linux Mint 13 cinnamon edition with pre-installed gnome shell. But the problem is that on live CD as well as when it is installed on desktop, Cinnamon is still the default Desktop Environment. I have to manually set Gnome Shell as default DE. I want Gnome Shell as Default D...

Add new screen resolution in Linux Mint12

Linux does not have as much options for display resolutions as in windows. A 22" Monitor in linux will have 1920x1080, 1440x900, 1280x960, 1024x768 resolutions. Some users may need resolution like 1600x900, 1366x768 for some purposes. These resolutions can be added manually in Linux. 1. First s...

Re: How to recover from a Frozen System

Is this recovery? All data will be lost. This is of no use for a common user. "Safe way to restart" is better name for this article.

Presing Alt+Print Scr + K will cause logout by Killing X-server. Although this will not save any data but it is much better and time saving than REISUB

By mistake I make some changes to important system files to bring transparency effects in Mint . I don't remember exactly what i did but due to this all the icons in application area of Gnome Shell were appearing twice. I have solved my problem by following these steps. I don't think this is a good ...
