Re: [Solved] External monitor not detected after login

Hey roblm, I didn't try logging in before renaming the monitors.xml file. I did it as a precaution, since the file seemed to have some missing parameters. I'm not using any adapter. I have the laptop monitor and an external monitor connected with a VGA output. The laptop also has an DisplayPort outp...

Re: External monitor not detected after login

The first suggestion you gave me solved the problem. For anyone with the same problem, here is the fix: * Reboot the computer, and wait for grub (you might have to hold shit or other keys to force the grub to appear) * At the GRUB boot menu select the correct line but don’t press Enter. Press the “E...

Re: External monitor not detected after login

Hello roblm, First off, thanks for your reply. I'll try to do what you said, but let me just say something that I probably ought to have said in the first post: I think the DP2 is the name of VGA port. I say this because when the monitor worked, it was listed in that entry in the xrandr output. Also...

[Solved] External monitor not detected after login

Hey everyone. I've been a Linux Mint user for some years now, and recently I've had this problem that ii can't quite put my finger on it. After a while using a HP Elitebook 850 laptop with an external monitor with no problems whatsoever, the monitor stopped working after I login. That is, I have the...

LM 14 Install Grub Problems (No UEFI) + ATI Drivers

Hey all. For the record, I don't have any problems installing previous versions of Linux Mint. The problem is that I decided to upgrade both my laptop and my desktop to LM14, and it's been a pain in the as*. Not counting with the problems I had with my laptop (NVidia) being slow as hell until I inst...

Re: Screenshot app malfunctioning, Linux Mint 13 with Cinnam

Regarding the screenshot problem, I've been using a quick-fix: restarting cinnamon while having the correct window opened does allow to screenshot it. Obviously, this is a rather rude solution to our problem. For those who don't know it, just open the window you want to screenshot, press Alt-F2 and ...

Re: Screenshot app malfunctioning, Linux Mint 13 with Cinnam

*Bump this is a issue, So far I found VNC, Teamviewer. Print screen and Kazam Screencaster, (mostly anything that records the desktop) to be inoperable with cinnamon at the moment. I tried 3 different driver releases and still the same issue, Some times I get a perfect picture but it is not current...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

Well, hi everyone! Finally registered to cast my vote! My vote has been for Cinnamon & Mate. I've been a Linux user for quite a few years, going full Linux at around Ubuntu 6.06. I've seen a lot of changes, DE and distros since then, passing by Gnome2, KDE3, Unity, Gnome3, KDE4, Fluxbox, XFCE Mate, ...
