Re: Mint 18.3 & Latest Chrome Version still crashing.

Yes, a few times uninstall then reinstall & now just leave it to update. It is the latest version from Google. Did have Chromium installed but used to get the same errors so abandoned that as it produced the same results. Did a search across other parts of the Linux community & ran chrome wi...

Mint 18.3 & Latest Chrome Version still crashing.

Hello, although I've got the impression that this is either fixed or not as bad an issue, it is still crashing (but taking longer to get to the abend) on my machine. Is there a fix? I still think of myself as a newbie although on & off I've been using Mint for around 4 years, but all mainly thro...

Re: How To Create a System Image With Macrium Reflect Rescue Disk In Linux Mint.

Thanks for this. I already use MR on Win10 so already have the full up to date product (had to use it the other day as the most recent update trashed my disk s/w wise). I suppose the only thing is you can't set up a schedule. I also assume that creating an image on an NTFS volume is irrelevant becau...

Re: How to update your kernel for Meltdown

That worked well for me, in 18.3 Cinnamon and the Update Manager tells me I'm using 4.13.0-26 (this also shows up in the inxi -S command). Question? Is it absolutely necessary to remove 4.8, 4.10 if the system is showing correct updated kernel? TIA.

PlusOne mobile otg data transfer issues

Hi I have a Dell Latitude E6230 running Mint 17.3. I just got a OnePlus 3T mobile running Android. Ordered & received an OTG cable from OnePlus. This comprises the universal 3C plug to connect to the phone and an A female socket to connect with an additional cable to another device in this case ...

Intermittent WiFi Drops Mint 17.3 64bit Cinnamon

Hi Have been very impressed with Mint & have been using for about 4 months & am seriously considering dropping WinX as I get more done in Mint. No probs apart from this one. Am in the same room as the WiFi router & generally works OK (am about 1.25 metres from the router LoS with a min 8...

Thanks for the quick response. Good to know it's not by design. A bug I can handle, thanks again.

Changing Login Characteristics

I've been using Mint 17.3 Cinnamon on a Dell Latitude E6230 for around six weeks. I use Linux more than Windows 10 (running on a more powerful processor) because it boots really fast & flies when it's loaded. One issue I have, and this could be me, periodically the system expects me to provide m...

17.3 Cinnamon asks for user name sometimes

Hi. This is my first question. It feels like this may be slightly dumb but here goes. I'm the only user of the machine. On installation I created a single account as an administrator. I've read that the root superuser account will use the password I created for my account to let me make changes to t...

Hello from Glossop in the UK

Have been registered on the forum since 2012 but this is the first time I've begun to use Linux for real rather than dabbling. This choice was rather forced on me by the system board of my 7 year old Toshiba laptop, failing. Windows Vista had been installed with only one BSOD during that whole time....
