Just want to say, this problem happens for me too. Linux Mint 18.3, Cinnamon edition, on Lenovo Thinkpad X220 64-bit laptop. Both the recent 4.13 kernels offered through Update Manager (4.13.0-38 and 4.13.0-37) caused this problem. The system freezes during wakeup from hibernate, at the point where ...

Something that often gets missed: Have you copied the files in /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib ? This is necessary to get the scanner working on the 64 bit system.
