Re: my laptop getting hot

I have an hp lanptop with ati graphics. When running the open source graphics driver it runs really hot. Switching to the proprietary driver fixes the problem for me. Don't have actual numbers but the thing sits in my lap when using it and the difference is drastic.

Re: MDM HTML5 Themes

Hey samriggs. Your doing some great work. In the process of learning html, css, and javascript right now. Still have a ways to go to be able to produce anything very interesting. Just started out trying to tweak the default theme a bit to match my systems own theme. I have messed with css for awhile...

Re: Can I Watch Netflix?

I use netflix from the compholio ppa and it works fine. I use cinnamon and the only issue I have had is cinnamon becomes unresponsive whenever netflix is being used. My system still works but cinnamon just seems to be frozen. Nothing on the panels will respond to any kind of mouse clicks. Has anyone...

Re: MDM HTML5 Themes

Love the HTML5 themes. It's a very cool feature and pretty easy to tweak an existing one to get a custom login screen. Maybe it's just me but while the default Clouds theme is gorgeous it feels out of place with all the other mint Linux Mint branding. Mint is all green, silver and white and the clou...

Re: Cinnamon dont like ATI Drivers!

I have had a lot of problems with cinnamon on my laptop with ati graphics as well. I finally just ended up using the mate desktop and so far it has been far more solid. Cinnamon ran alright with the open source drivers but my laptop ran extremely hot compared to when using the proprietary drivers.

Re: Windows list (task bar) with icons only

I think the window list with app grouping applet on the cinnamon spices website may have what you are looking for. Its the one that I use and I love it.

@tdockery97

I just purchase a new hp laptop with ati graphics and noticed this same problem. When I use the open source drivers my computer seems to run much hotter. Just curious if you have experienced that at all?

Re: desktop backgroound image

The folder you are looking for is /usr/share/backgrounds. I am running the cinnamon nightlies and the new version of cinnamon that will be in Mint 15 allows you to add and remove them right from the backgrounds page in cinnamon settings.

Re: gap between launchers in panel

Your cinnamon theme can control this. Find the cinnamon.css file for the theme you are using and open it. There will be a section within the css for the panel launchers applet. In that section you should fine something like this: .panel-launcher { margin: 1px; padding: 1px; } I added this line to mi...

Re: A few questions about Linux/Mint Cinnamon

I can help with a couple of these. Fairly new to linux but have been using it as my main os for about 8 months, so here goes: 1 > The sudo command in terminal is like running things as an administrator in windows. That's why is asks for your password when you use it. Not sure if it's technically cor...

Re: Multiple panels(top and bottom)

The best way to do that in cinnamon is to use a separate dock program like cairo dock.

Re: Classic Panel Layout

You can go to the main menu find Preferences->Cinnamon Settings->Panel. There is a checkbox for Panel Edit mode. You can also click the little arrow on your panel if you have the Cinnamon Settings applet active. Click it and at the bottom you will see a switch for Panel Edit Mode.

Re: Classic Panel Layout

In the screenshot above, see where it says Panel Edit Mode? Activate that and then you can drag and drop your applets to whatever part of the panel you want them to be on. Or in your case to your bottom panel. When you are done just turn Panel Edit Mode back to off.

Re: How to make Cinnamon panel look like Zorin's ??

Did you check the attachment I gave you earlier in the thread? The changes are made to the panel.js section of the theme. Doing this way will ensure that the areas of the panel resize properly as applets are added and removed. It should do exactly what you want, the images I made to do it just aren'...

Re: How to make Cinnamon panel look like Zorin's ??

Ok. Here is a quick and dirty example of how to do it. Check the panel.js section of the theme. You probably want to make some better images. I made those just to give an idea of how to do it. You will also have to change the foreground color for the applets you use in the center of the panel. Hope ...

Couple gtk theme creation questions

I am currently working on a new Gtk3 theme and could use a little help from more experienced theme developers. There are a couple of sections within the theme that I can't figure out what they are controlling. They are the Selection Mode Classes section, GtkAssistant, .content-view, .dim-label, and ...

Re: Update Manager Error trying to overwrite '/etc/xdg/menus

Had something very similar happen two days ago with the cinnamon nightly build. Don't remember exactly what the error was but it complained about not being able to find cinnamon-common or something. When I logged out cinnamon was no longer even an option from the login screen. I just backed up my fi...

Change Icon Size In Cinnamon Theme

Working on my first cinnamon theme and ran into an issue I cannot figure out how to solve. Is there a way in the css file to set the size of the icon that displays in the panel launcher and window list applets? Any help would be appreciated. Re: Desktop Screenshots Thread - December 2012

Love some of your themes mmesantos1. I have a quick question. Is there a way to disable the global menu with bespin? New to kde and bespin and playing with some themes but don't like the global type of menu on dual monitor setup.
