Re: Help! My Mint Cinnamon 15 transformed into "Ubuntu 15"??

Ouch! Makes sense... I can't see what I would have needed from that ppa, but the name kinda rings a bell. Would be nice if mintUpdate would let you know which and how many of the packages are being updated through external ppas (I've always struggled with that). I've become more careful, obviously n...

[SOLVED] My Mint Cinnamon 15 turned into "Ubuntu 15"???

Not sure if this is the right forum, but it does seem to be DE-related somehow. Early on the 26th August I applied a whole bunch of updates from the update manager. There seemed to be an awful lot, which I found strange, but I clicked apply. The next day when I booted up, the text splash screen said...

Calendar applet in MATE.. expand "locations" tab by default?

Hi there, running mint 13 MATE 64bit [cinnamon too unstable :( ] and wondering how to have the locations tab/window of the clock applet expanded by default when the calendar is activated/clicked on? On my main desktop (the faultless Mint 10 GNOME edition!) I think this was the default bahaviour. I g...

Re: Change to top panel mode has broken cinnamon- how to rev

Thanks for the suggestions, but no luck :( If anyone else knows where the setting for panel position can be edited manually...........? There are some serious bugs regarding the customization of the panel. My cinnamon is also broken on my laptop now, after I "played with" panel position. Now, I can ...

Change to top panel mode has broken cinnamon- how to revert?

Hi there, While playing around with customizing my Cinnamon theme, I changed to top panel mode, then after restarting with alt-f2/"r", the panel was gone, and all the windows were mangled. When I log back in, nothing is appearing on the desktop at all. All I can see is the background image! Nothing ...

Error in "Central Khmer" regional format + more questions

Hi there, I've been translating Mint into Khmer, and one thing I noticed while testing the Khmer-localized Mint 13 Cinnamon is that there is an error displaying the minutes part of the date/time format in this language. I noticed it in Nautilus file property window, but it obviously uses the system-...

Re: How to contribute!

One more annoying question... when I click on the package link in the suggestion lines, it says "not found or no permission..." ... This is an example link: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/kdelibs/+pots/katepart/km/585/+translate Though it will probably match most of the time...

Re: How to contribute!

Thank you Vincent, for an amazing reply! You've explained it perfectly, and it doesn't sound so daunting now, either. I really want to contribute somehow, so I've made an account. Can I just start translating the mint stuff straight away and clem will approve it, or should I get some special permiss...

How to contribute!

Hi there, I am promoting Mint among some of my Khmer friends, and I would like to speed up the Khmer translations, but it seems the volunteers are a bit behind, and as I am not fluent, I decided I would like to use my own funds for professional translating, in whatever capacity I can afford (at leas...

Re: need advice on setting up 3g dongle for another country!

Awesome, thank you vikiing777, you've been very helpful! I did lots of reading on the MF30 after I posted that and it did seem like a much better option -- no compatibility or driver issues, expandable capabilities, they can access their local technical support as well, and (contrary to my initial w...

need advice on setting up 3g dongle for another country!

Hi there, I am from Melbourne, Australia. Basically, I have promised a friend in Cambodia that I will set up and send them a laptop, with internet/Skype capabilities a must. I have been a strictly Linux user (started with Mint and never saw a need to stray!) for the last couple of years, and I am ba...
