Re: xfce 19.3 upgrade - volume icon too big?

(update)... I think the issue lies in the updated xfce-panel (4.14.1, as opposed the 4.12.1 in LM 19.2). It has different options under the 'Panel Preferences -> Appearance' tab, one of which is a switch to 'Adjust icon size automatically'. Somehow it's setting the icon-size for some of the panel ic...

Re: xfce 19.3 upgrade - volume icon too big?

@MrEen, Looking at the panel, the 'large' icon is the xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin (v0.4.2). When I reload my old (Linux Mint xfce 19.2) config, the plugin is the same, but the version is 0.4.1 I seem to remember a similar issue with an early release of Mint, but I can't find it (and the solution) out th...

xfce 19.3 upgrade - volume icon too big?

Hi,

One of the minor issues I've run into after upgrading my 19.2 xfce system to 19.3 (via update-manager) is that the volume icon in the taskbar looks too big - see attached screenshot.

Is there any way to fix this - a minor annoyance, I know.

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: Uninstalled Firefox from Synaptic, now cannot re-install (not found)

@Karl,

Thanks for the info.

Am I correct in assuming that Update Manager, Software Manager and Synaptic are all 'front-ends' to APT?

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: Uninstalled Firefox from Synaptic, now cannot re-install (not found)

Sorry for the late reply...

That seemed to do the trick...

I always assumed that update manager did a "sudo apt update " every time it runs - am I mistaken?

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: Suggestion: Add minimal install option

If you do this regularly then simply set up the VM once and then clone it (or if it's the same reset it to a snapshot). Or at least note down the packages you always remove, throw an apt purge --autoremove in front and you're done, too. Why would you repeatedly do this manually? I used to use a rea...

Re: Suggestion: Add minimal install option

Apologies for cross-posting, but there seems to be a couple of threads requesting a similar thing... I'd love a minimal install, but for the moment I have to manual remove stuff. I have a 'fully-featured' Linux Mint install, but I also I have a requirement for a very trimmed-down/bare-bones install ...

Re: Mint Minimal ISO (Yes like Ubuntu)

I'd love a minimal install, but for the moment I have to manual remove stuff. I have a requirement for a very trimmed-down install for some VMs I use, so get rid of pretty much all the pre-installed apps. It takes me a good hour, which is a bloody long time imo... I run Mint xfce and after an instal...

<SOLVED> Uninstalled Firefox from Synaptic, now cannot re-install (not found)

Hi Guys, This is puzzling me - I did a clean install of Linux Mint 19.1 64-bit xfce and removed most of the install applications (including Firefox), using Synaptic. I'd now like to reinstall, but when I go into Synaptic (or the Software Manager), Firefox is nowhere to be found. Any idea why this wo...

Re: Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

Yep, it bombs on LM 19.1 xfce 64-bit too....

A real shame, as it's perfect from simple image and photo editing. GIMP is a pain and so counter-intuitive.

Giving the Mono workaround a go, but it's installing a shed-load of crap...

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 “Tessa” Xfce released!

Just upgraded from LM 19.0 64-bit xfce to 19.1 - the process went without a hitch. One minor annoyance is that in program window title-bars, when the window is maximised, the program icon (at the far left of the title-bar) is too far to the left (by around 4 or 5 pixels?) and appears right at the ed...

Interesting - one of my local Mint mirrors (AARNet) is showing 19.1 as released.

The ISOs are all dated 17-Dec-2018...

Have they jumped the gun, or is it correct?

Another update - not suggesting everyone rush out and try it - just FYI really... I've been running LM 19.0 xfce 64-bit since it was launched earlier in the year and have been updating to the latest kernel version via the UKUU program. Currently running 4.19.8 I've had no issues on any of the kernel...

[SOLVED] Where's the screen-saver in LM19 xfce?

Hi Guys, I've just been trying to figure out how to set the screen-saver in LM19.0 xfce to display all of those nifty graphical 'toys' when it's activated, however I can't sem to find it, despite much googling and hunting around. I previous used LM 18 and the screen saver was there and the various s...

SOLVED: Mint Update - Hash Sum mismatch on Kernel update...

Hi Guys, Ran into an issue with Mint Update on my new LM 19.0 xfce 64-bit install. When update tries to install the 4.15.0-32 kernel update, if gives the message shown below. It appears that the archives have been updated with files for the 4.15.0-32.35 kernel update, but the checksums must be for t...

Re: How to upgrade to Linux Mint 19

The timeshift step is a real ball-ache... Finding enough space was a drama, then it took an age (over 3 hours on my VB installation).

Surely timeshift should be optional for those users that already have backup/restore procedures in-place?
