Re: [Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon] Unable to use click on taskbar and the minimise/maximise/close buttons of various windows

Ok, if you have definitely narrowed it down to the keyboard, you are on the way... Troubleshooting USB problems can be difficult, maybe someone with good experience, could step in and help. For now, what I could suggest is: try different USB ports to see if they behave better try plugging in the key...

Re: FileZilla problem

On the machine whose firewall is blocking, make sure UFW logging is on. Menu > Edit > Preferences ufw Logging: Low/Med/High Then after you try to connect and get blocked, there should be an entry in the log showing IP address and port details. Check the log at: /var/log/ufw.log You will see there th...

Are you asking here about settings for Windows10 firewall?

The UFW/GUFW should be fine with Allow Outgoing.

Re: FileZilla problem

Just like before, but make this change.

Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS

change to

Encryption: Only use plain FTP (insecure)

This method is always frowned upon these days as insecure, with FTPS or SSH/SFTP being recommended.

Re: FileZilla problem

Your friend's server is not configured for FTPS, so you won't be able to connect using SSL/TLS. You are only able to connect to FTP unsecured.

If you want to connect securely, your friend will need configure his server for FTPS, AND set appropriate firewall rules.

Re: FileZilla problem

Firstly, I wouldn't use the wizard, its not needed. I tried it here and it didn't work, yet I can do FTPS easily. Try setting up the account in "Site Manager" as mentioned above, with those few settings, and the rest as default. Here, I don't need to forward ports at all. Open GUFW (firewall config)...

I have had this problem over the last few versions of Mint.
Although there are 2 ways to solve it, both should be unneccessary!

Re: FileZilla problem

Filezilla is a standard. Try these settings on Filezilla - include your FTP host, user and password. Leave other tabs as default: FILEZILLA Site Manager > YourServer > General Protocol: FTP Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS Logon Type: Normal My best guess, is that this may be a firewall pro...

Re: Thunderbird running in background

I use "kdocker" for minimize to tray.
Just install kdocker, then change/create shortcut for Thunderbird, so it is launched by kdocker. Use this command in the shortcut:

Code: Select all

kdocker -q -t -d 20 thunderbird

Re: Dell XPS fan control

The Permission denied can be overcome by using the root prompt:

Code: Select all

sudo su
then

Code: Select all

echo "options dell-smm-hwmon restricted=0 force=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/dell-smm-hwmon.conf
Try that.

*PS remember to exit root with

Code: Select all

exit

Re: Dell XPS fan control

You can use i8k, it may work for you, I found it clunky. Few years back, I used Thermald to control fans, it is the best choice as you can fine tune settings. source: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1094485/dell-xps-15-9570-how-to-control-the-fans First you will need to see the fans with "lm_sensors...
