Re: USB-stick not readable in Windows

Use the default program "Disks", this should fix it.
Menu > Accessories > Disks

Select the drive, then click the cogs icon for options.

Try Format or Repair Filesystem. Should be fine after this.

Re: Glitchy Firetray addon for Thunderbird

There is this patched version that may solve your problem. First disable and remove the current one, then you could try the one mentioned here:

Doesn't work for me. The options panel is broken so this might be the location of the problem
Appoloin did you try the process I mentioned above?
I also had your problem, but following the above tip I got a fully functioning addon.

Try disable and remove Firetray, then follow steps in above tip.

Re: Thunderbird 60 Minimize to Tray

I just got Firetray working again! Thunderbird user JokeRTrG on Oct. 18, 2018 posted a a tip on the review page which works. For TB 60. git clone https://github.com/firetray-updates/FireTray cd FireTray/src make build ls ../build-*/*.xpi # <-- your xpi, ready to be installed I don't use git, so just...

[SOLVED] Thunderbird 60 Minimize to Tray

After updating to Thunderbird 60 today, the extension Firetray was disabled, it has worked ok for a long time to allow minimizing of Thunderbird to tray, but no more. As an alternative I tried the linux application called "alltray" but it did not work properly - when clicking close button Thunderbir...

Re: How to fsck usb storage drive?

I had a problematic USB stick recently. Gparted did not fix it. The tool "Disks" has Check and Repair functions and that worked a treat!
Menu > Settings > Disks
Select the disk, then click on the cog icon, select "Check Filesystem", followed by "Repair Filesystem".

Re: No interfaces in wireshark for normal user after update to LM19

You just need to add your user to the wireshark group. Mine worked fine after this. Use the "Users and Groups" menu, or do it in terminal: sudo usermod -a -G wireshark YOUR_USER_NAME Then logout or reboot. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If that ...

Software Manager repeats dialogs - caching issue?

I'm on the new Linux Mint 19 XFCE 64bit and it all works great! The only small issue I have found, is with the Software Manager. When installing an application, it can ask for a password 2 or more times. Also dialogs that appear asking if its ok to install additional files may appear 2 or more times...

Re: [SOLVED-sorta] Linux Mint v18.10 cannot see other computers on LAN

On the default hosts file in Linux Mint, the machine name IP is 127.0.1.1 which is different to that of localhost 127.0.0.1
I would use that on your Mint machines.

Re: Updating to the newest drivers crashes cinnamon

How can I make it stop paying attention to nvidia -304 updates?
Too easy...

Open the "Update Manager" from panel
Menu: Edit > Preferences
Click "Ignore Updates" tab
Click "+Add" button
Enter "nvidia-304" (without quotes)
Click "OK" button
Click "Apply" button

Done!

Re: Suddenly soundcards don't work

Hi, I'm not on KDE, but in Mate or Cinnamon, the first place to check is the Sound applet Preferences > Sound Check the "Output" tab for multiple devices, and see if there is an option to disable the unpreferred device/s (could be interferring). Normally the switching of graphics and sound on an Opt...

Re: Updating to the newest drivers crashes cinnamon

I got mine fixed. With the new nvidia-367 driver I could not get the nvidia card to de-activate, so ran hot. Reverting to nvidia-340 using Driver Manager didn't do the trick. This process worked for me, dirty approach: 1. Use Driver Manager to select nouveau (default) driver 2. Issue command "sudo a...

Re: Problem with login into the forum

I still get insecure (mixed) content, the console shows its the avatars with http urls not https. To solve this I would allow avatar uploads, which will display as https, or use a service that provides https avatars.
