Re: My three big problems while running Linux Mint 18 "Sarah"

As for Item #3: you can change the color for Nemo and many other programs to whatever you want it to be. I just finished 3 themes for Mint 18 with lots of color. Oh, hello again! :D I have had a hope you would look into the problem and here you are! Magic! :D You've saved the situation in the glori...

Re: My three big problems while running Linux Mint 18 "Sara"

UPDATE regarding the problem No.1: I have switched off the windows animation (whatever it is and the setting was on by default). Then downloaded some updates (unfortunately, I don't remember what the updates were), restarted the computer several times. Strangely enough, but the file manager stopped...

My three big problems while running Linux Mint 18 "Sarah"

Just a little bit about my experience of running Mint 18 "Sara". Hope I am posting it to the right forum - I failed to find a special bug report forum. Generally the OS is very smooth, pleasant and stable - love it! The developers have made an excellent job. :D But.. 1. After installing Li...

it is 2016 and Canoscan 9000f Mark II still doesn't run on Linux Mint 17.3 Rose natively. :( What a pity.

Re: A Way to Change Background Colour in Nautilus?

austin.texas , thanks! I have opened the file you pointed out to, but still no luck - I can't determine which line in this file indicates the background field colour, there is no obvious indicator to this function.

Re: A Way to Change Background Colour in Nautilus?

austin.texas , thanks for your effort and suggested solution. However it is not what I need. I am very happy with the way my Linux Mint looks and functions, i use colour codes with my databases, everything is optimized apart from the offensive to eyes white background. I tried various themes, but m...

A Way to Change Background Colour in Nautilus?

I wonder if there is a simple way (if any) to change the colour of the nautilus background in cinnamon (17.3) ? The white background hurts my eyes badly. Also my wife has just rejected the idea of having Mint on her computer due to the want of this seemingly obvious function... I am sure there are q...

Coolreader Ebook Reader User-defined Settings and Linux Mint

Took me some time to find a solution, so I would like to share, it might help some folks. I am running Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64bit. I love to preview and sometimes read some epub ebooks on the screen using Coolreader. I think it is the best ereader program under Windows: one can easily change the...

Re: Problems installing Mint 8 KDE64

I've been trying to install Linux Helena 8 on a pc with asusrock amd64x2. However when the boot starts it shows the Logo, then goes into NonPreset Mode. I tried it on three very different monitors with the only difference that some of the monitors said "Display Cannot Support This Mode". N...

Re: Hash sum mismatch error on everything I download!

If it is not a bad RAM instance it is likely to be a failing hard drive - either corrupted firmware or too many bad sectors. The latter case is the best bet. I would suggest to download some checking utility from the makers of the disk, burn it on CD and check it for bad sectors. What make is the dr...

Re: Skype doesn't install in Helena

Canrith , thanks!! It has done the trick! It installed very nicely. I wonder what's gone wrong with the installation package in the software portal? Now I see there are many postings about certain problems with Skype and Helena... I'd already been contemplating about coming back to win7 because of ...

Skype doesn't install in Helena

I've been trying to install Skype from shareware portal. I click on the install and nothing happens. The installation screen just disappears. Tried many times, no luck. All the other programmes are installing with no problems.
Any idea what it might be?

Re: Mint8 "Cannot Display This Video Mode"

@ exploder , Nope. Turned it off normally, via Switch Off option. It might be some self-adjustment after I played DVD... I have just sorted it out by pluging another, very big monitor - it picked up the self-imposed resolution and I set 800x600 60mhz and then plugged the original monitor again. Stra...

Re: Linux Mint 8.0 Does not work...Help!

From what I gather 8.0 uses Grub 2 and it seems to be buggy! I've got an impression that Grub2 is an attempt to kill Linux development. After 3 days of no problems I got a ms "Cannot display this video mode" while booting - and that's it! No option in Grub2 to adjust settings. Sad... Pity...

Mint8 "Cannot Display This Video Mode"

After 3 happy days since installing Mint8 (fresh install) today I've got the following message while booting "Cannot Display This Video Mode" (white letters on black background). This ms hangs for ages with no option to change any resolution or refresh rate. Prior to the last power off I d...

Wow! Exactly my thoughts. As far as Linux has no REAL full-fledged alternatives to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition-Sound Forge there wouldn't be any real threat to Windows domination and no increase in Linux supporters.

An absolutely stunning release! I've installed it several days ago with no problems whatsoever - not even a single video drivers issue, The latter is a pleasant surprize! The first hitchless installation in my 12 year span of Linux installing. :) Thanks folks. The system is a pleasure to work with a...
