Re: Running Out of Root Diskspace

I recently got this problem with Linux Mint 17.3. The problem is that my root volume / had 30gb free. I originally made its size ~50gb when I first installed 17.3 which I knew was too large but with that amount of free space I couldn't understand what was going on when I was told that I had 0gb free...

Re: TCP setups not seen after reboot

The following is my solution / work around. Make a new TCP connection in the network manager. Do the identical thing again with the same location so you have done the same thing 2x. /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections lists the connection 2x. One time is plain. The second time has a suffix on the...

TCP setups not seen after reboot

I am using Linux Mint 17.3. I have NordVPN. When I use the Network manager (gnome) to set up a UDP connection after the reboot all the setup connections are there. When I set up a TCP connection the connection works for the session and appear on the VPN Connections list. After I reboot all the conne...

Re: The New Guy having trouble with booting Linux Mint

I have been installing my Linux Mint on USB Hard drives for years. One of the drives crashed so I tried again. It was a 3.0Tb drive that I partitioned and also had a NTFS file on. When that didn't work then I used a new 3.0 hard drive.. 5 days and the drives weren''t recognized for a drive to boot f...

Re: Transmission 2.77 upload problems

I tried to edit the settings.json file manually and it ended up giving a fresh install. I got the message from a "check of my connectiivity" on one torrent site: The client on (My IP address#):51413 appears to be connectable (and got a proper client response, and matched peer ID). At this point file...

Re: Transmission 2.77 upload problems

Having given up many times, I started more searching. The following gave me ideas.: http://flexget.com/wiki/Plugins/transmission First of all I am using Transmission-gtk 2.82 . In the Edit-Preferences-Remote I allowed remote access. Then on the bottom after 127.0.0,1 I added 192.168.*.* which is a w...

Re: Transmission 2.77 upload problems

After re-installing with Linux Mint 17 I found upload sluggish. I also remember many times where the upload was poor for a period of time in the past. I am in a foreign country with a fast connection. The idea that they are manipulating connections seems very real to me. I am using transmission 2.82...

Linux Mint 17 Mate, Brother 4820C (only use scanner) I had been using Xsane and it worked on the system for a couple of scans. Re: Email article hangs on Send

I am using the Browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera) and not a webmail client. When I read a news article they have a button (envleop icon) that causes a pop up which I can put someone's email address in. It is the hanging that I am getting at the popup when I attempt to send I have had this happ...

Email article hangs on Send

Linux Mint 17. 64bit Mate I see an article I like on the Internet and try to use the email link to send it to someone else. I am using Firefox. It hangs on Send and never goes out. I was writing Mozilla to complain but before I sent it I checked on Google Chrome one day and it worked on Google Chrom...

Re: Transmission 2.77 upload problems

My home directory crashe subsequently. I started with a new computer and Linux Mint 17 Mate but the problem of poor upload persists. I think that my location may be part of the problem. I tried VPN from a different location in the world and my Transmission seemed to be operating better for torrents ...

Re: Update Manager non visible levels 4, 5 seen

Thanks ever so much. They may be "security updates" but doing things outside the box can end up with a system that doesn't work. Level 4 and 5 are very specific in that they could possibly turn into a problem if used. I don't even want to get tempted into using something that could crash my system. ...

Update Manager non visible levels 4, 5 seen

I see complaints about not seeing all the updates that are present in Synaptic Package manager in the Update Manager. I for one don't want to see level 4 and 5 updates at all in the Update Package manager unless I am after something specific. Now I do see them even though I have them not visible (vi...

Re: Partitions could not be unmounted

It was an external USB harddrive that I was attempting to install on. I ended up installing LMDE since that was the advertised non-PAE kernel. While it installed it was terrible in comparison with Ubuntu 11.04. I am thinking of scrapping the whole thing and going with your suggestion of starting wit...

Re: Partitions could not be unmounted

I have a problem. First of all thank you for the information. Second when I used a PAE-enabled kernel live DVD Ubuntu 12.04 it told me it wouldn't work and never loaded giving me the statement that the Kernel would not work on a machine that was not PAE-enabled. The reply you gave me says that the M...

Partitions could not be unmounted

Currently running Lubuntu 11.04 on a Centrino 1.5MHz ;1Gb Ram installed on partitions on a USB Freeagent drive with the / and /home on separated partitions. I use a cd with isolinux to bootstrap the system to get started since the bios doesn't support booting from the USB drive. I wanted the LinuxMi...
