Re: Live Boot Realtek ALC1220 not detected
OK. I'll be installing Mint soon and will try everything that I was pointed to and what I have found. All of which was mentioned above and mentioned elsewhere. However, I want to make backup plans and will need some information. Just in case we can't get my sound to work I would like to know what so...

Re: Live Boot Cinnamon 20.2 Edge not showing Intel WiFi
It is only a google away: https://www.cleverfiles.com/howto/disable-update-windows-10.html MS hobbled this in the home edition, so if home, telling it you have a metered connection is probably the easiest way, the other one is a registry hack. Gotcha. Sadly it just fried my brain trying to read it....

Re: Live Boot Cinnamon 20.2 Edge not showing Intel WiFi
As you have found, there are two fast boots. The one in BIOS simply skips some of the POST (power on self test) routines. The one in win10 is a kludge by MS to make win appear faster to boot that it really is. I suspect win updates are turning it back on, disable automatic updates. I don't know abo...

Re: Live Boot Realtek ALC1220 not detected
Well, that's odd, unless it's Mint Edge which comes with 5.11. I see no mention of Edge in the inxi though. Anyway, I don't know if it has anything to do with your problem. Yeah. I don't think my sound problem is due to whether it's Mint 20.2 or 20.2 Edge because from what I've found out is that my...

Re: Live Boot Realtek ALC1220 not detected
I didn't notice that, but unfortunately I have no idea. It's the ISO I downloaded from Kent University, UK with the SHA double checked and then put to USB with Rufus.

Re: Live Boot Cinnamon 20.2 Edge not showing Intel WiFi
Apparently Win10 power management kept blocking it. I had to disable Fast Boot from within Windows (I was told to disable Secure Boot in BIOS which was already disabled). There were two posts earlier in this thread, one by sleeper12 and another by AndyMH which specifically discuss turning off Fast ...

Live Boot Realtek ALC1220 not detected
OK. I'm prepping to install Cinnamon Mint 20.2 but currently have no sound in Live Boot. There are 2 options for output in the sound settings. One for nVidia HDMI and the other for Intel. Neither is the Realtek audio which my speakers are plugged into on the motherboard. Not to mention that in Kubun...

Re: Live Boot Cinnamon 20.2 Edge not showing Intel WiFi
Another update. I've found out why I didn't have WiFi in Live Boot of many Distros. Different Mints, Kubuntu, Manjaro, Fedora and Pop OS. Apparently Win10 power management kept blocking it. I had to disable Fast Boot from within Windows (I was told to disable Secure Boot in BIOS which was already di...

Re: Incorrect image file extension detection
I am not aware of a tool for that, don't mean there isn't one. I use GIMP to sort it all out, and to correct the improper image Vertical positions. it seems that the different cameras in cellphones NEVER report the Vertical aspect correctly. That's a shame. It's a really useful feature to point out...

Incorrect image file extension detection
I handle lots of image files but there is a bit of a problem which seems to be fairly common. This may get a little complicated, so please bear with me. Thanks. I'm currently on Windows still and I use Irfanview for various reasons. Irfanview has a nice little feature of detecting incorrect file ext...

Re: Live Boot Cinnamon 20.2 Edge not showing Intel WiFi
Hey everyone. Quick update. I've managed to test all Mint releases all the way back to Mint 19. For some reason there is still no WiFi. This means to save some hassle I'll use Kubuntu 21.10 for the time being while keeping an eye out for a newer LTS release of Mint in the hopes that it'll work. Than...

Re: Is there an Irfanview batch renaming program
I've never used Irfanview. Is there something special it does for renaming that is different from other bulk renaming programs? Linux Mint has a built in program for bulk renaming program. It is called Bulky and comes up as 'File Renamer' in the Cinnamon program menu. It's fairly new, so it's a bit...

Is there an Irfanview batch renaming program
Irfanview has a feature that allows you to easily rename image files in bulk. Is there a program that can do the same? I went looking but all I can find are instructions on how to use command line which is too complicated for me to handle. Do any of the common image editors/managers/organisers have ...

Nah. I don't want to argue about this.
I'm just worried that I won't be able to use my printer anymore because I just don't want to log into a HP account.

Re: Do you need account to use HP Printer on Linux?
I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 an no HP account - I can print/scan/copy - the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw may be different as far as having to log into an HP account. The best way to make sure though is to boot up a live copy of Mint and test it. Sorry, but I'm currently having trouble with Liv...

Do you need account to use HP Printer on Linux?
I have a "Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw" which I was running on my Win10 setup. However, HP decided to update the software so that I cannot do anything without logging into an HP account. As I don't want to do so in order to scan or print. Or even Photocopy anything. The printer has ended...
