Accessing a NAS or Networked Drive

Normally in Windows I'd simply type

Code: Select all

\\192.168.1.3
in the Windows Explorer field in windows to access the various folders on my NAS. What is the equivalent in Lunux?

Other info my NAS is just in the workgroup MSHOME

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

Long story short, I changed the board and it seems to work now. That was a while ago, maybe Linux will work with that board now, who knows.

Emby Media Server

I rebuilt an old server that was given to me but alas my legitimate Server 2012 key that I pulled from it decides to not work.

That's OK, Linux can be my friend!

Does anybody have any experience with Emby? Also see my other thread for Drive Pooling.

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

This is the script, if you can find a way to copy it to the computer (maybe using your Windows 7), make it executable and run it and post the result (again using Windows 7 to access the forum). I just added a second HDD to the PC in question, hopefully via 7 I'll be able to add files that way. Now ...

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

More info: My router are 2 AC Airport Extremes in tandem (I've been using one for 2 years, recently added the second for better coverage). The second replaced an Airport Express that was used as just an extender. The Express I just used to see if that changed anything. It didn't. My network: Airport...

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

The new board is a GA-970A-DS3P. The 3Com PCI adapter is: 3C905C-TXM. I have no way of reporting outcomes at least on the 17.3 or 18, as it seems to want to corrupt or not read the USB and or SD card. Also I can't use wget on the machine in question BECAUSE IT WON'T ACCESS THE INTERNET! I honestly d...

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

I don't get it, I don't get it!

Just tried a different router on 17.2 with the same results!

My 17.3 computer is fine, I've used these same equipment before w/ Linux (aside from MoBo and CPU). They work on Windows 7!

Re: Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

I'm going to try one last thing, but I've tried copying the output to a text file and copying that to an SD Card. But it seems to corrupt the card from being read on my Windows, Mac, or other Linux Mint 17.3 machine. UPDATE: That "one last thing" was to have a USB stick plugged in at boot up, negati...

Can't connect to the Internet in 17 or 18

I've been trying to do a fresh install of Mint along side 7 since 3pm. Ripping DVD (and maybe BluRay)

I have a huge library of legit movies I'd like to take with me on the road on my laptop. Only my laptop doesn't have a built-in optical drive. I could get one, but how cool would it be to rip my movies and store them digitally?

Is there a program that will do this, and maybe possibly Blurays too?

Re: SSD Basics

That's the exact FAQ I followed originally about six months ago. Now I can't access the software repository or use "apt-get", I wonder if I did something wrong. The only things I've done on this machine were install, follow the SSD FAQ, configure SSH, Install screens, and install a Minecraft server....

SSD Basics

When using Mint, are there anything basic about SSD's or are they largely set-it and forget-it? I know with Windows 7 you don't have to really do anything special, how about Mint? Is there an idiot-proof guide I can follow?

apt-get not working (Cin 17.2)

This morning I was going to surf the software repository and couldn't get anywhere, I figured I'd look into it later. Now I went to go install exfat-fuse and I get this error: sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse [sudo] password for minecraft: Reading package lists... Error! E: Unable to parse package fi...

Re: SSH from Mac to Mint 17.1

Sorry it's been a while but this is the first time I've had to work on it in some time. I just installed OpenSSH-server and when trying to log in. I got this message: Last login: Wed Jul 15 07:15:06 on console MacBook-Pro:~ phish$ ssh minecraft@192.168.1.4 @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@...

I will certainly try this later today. Do I need to do anything to configure it?
