I ran out of disk space with 4 GB /

Just FYI, I recently installed Cassandra following scorp123's excellent advice about partitioning style ( http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=358 ), and I used my current install as a guide to determine how big to make the partitions on this other computer. I allowed 2.5 GB for / and 3.5 ...

So I tried Opera...probably going back to DirePox.

I tried Opera, and it has a few things I really like about it. It has a 'duplicate' feature on the tabs, so you can open a tab that's a copy of another tab. I like that. (I'm checking out a FireFox addon that may do this too.) It also has widgets which are pretty nice but Firefox has a few useful th...

Current version of flashplugin-nonfree

Hi scorp123,

The current version of flashplugin-nonfree is 9.0.31.0.2ubuntu1, which appears to be the latest. I do tend to have several tabs open on FireFox sometimes.

I'll have a look at opera and see how that goes. Thanks for the ideas!

Firefox freezes randomly on YouTube.

Hi folks, just wondering about this issue, and hoping to gain some insight. Both in Bianca and Cassandra Firefox will freeze randomly while navigating through YouTube and moving away from a page with embedded video. (I think it only affects pages that have embedded video, I have to pay better attent...

Installed Cassandra, liking it so far

I've installed Cassandra and I'm liking it. In order to avoid danger with my other partitions I changed parameters on only the two partitions that I needed for this install. Everything else I left untouched. The installation went smoothly, and all of my needed applications seem to work fine. The onl...

Thanks for the replies folks.

Thanks for those replies, I do appreciate it. Now I know I'm not nuts, and also that this behavior wasn't intended by the developers. I considered reformatting the root folder so that it might choose that automatically, so as to avoid any partition edits at all. I'll think about all this and perhaps...

3.0: Step 4 wants to resize partitions! [Work-around-ish]

I'm stunned. I had to cancel the install of Cassandra at the partitioning step because it insisted on resizing partitions. I began the install for Cassandra and got to step 4 where partitions and mount points are specified. As I always do, I selected manual mode. I was presented with the usual list ...

One catch with Krusader

One designed-in feature of Krusader that may be worth noting is that each pane opens with no sidways scroll bar, and columns are resized to fit within the allotted space. You can't change this behavior. As a result, you can only have a few columns visible so you won't be continually resizing your co...

The updated mintMenu 1.10 works in XFCE too

Hi Crusti, This is great news! (mintmenu working in XFCE). Clem Clem, I updated the mintMenu and it works fine in XFCE, the hover effect is excellent. Everyone, I also discovered you can use XFCE panels in the Gnome environment as long as you install XFCE, and keep one Gnome panel even if it's unus...

My logic

Well, since the original thread was in Forum index » Announcements & Suggestions » Suggestions & Feedback I figured I'd continue the thread in Desktops, so that people perusing the board surfing through the Desktops area might see the post. I just didn't think what i was posting had anything to do...

Getting ready to distribute to my co-workers.

Last night I bought a 30-pack of DVDs and a big bag of mints. Tonight I'm going to burn burn burn and tomorrow I'll announce to my co-workers that they can get a free copy of Linux Mint from me with a complementary mint :) I'll have the disk booted on a spare computer here, so people can have a look...

Some simple logo/button ideas

Hi there, Here are some simple logo/button ideas. Perhaps if one of the talented graphics artists on the board likes something they see, they can make some use of it. So far I'm using the GIMP, and trying to find other graphics apps to play with. http://www.imagehosting.com/out.php/t240471_mintlogo1...

Re: Debian Etch as primary, 3 others besides

What you need there is the "smart" package manager. Search the web for "suse smart channel" or "smart channels" and add those to your "smart" config. If you know your ways around that it will give multimedia and everything within 15 minutes after the installation. And having a lot of choice is alwa...
