Which version of Linux Mint?
Which desktop (cinnamon, mate, xfce)?
What do you mean by "the official snap way"? Snap is not enabled by default in Mint.

Re: Does Ubuntu 24.04 let you install Gdebi?
The current version of Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu 22.04 so there seems little point asking about Ubuntu 24.04 in a Mint forumSuperSapien wrote: ⤴Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:15 pm Can you still install Gdebi on on Ubuntu 24.04? And if you can can you still install something like Google Chrome?

Re: Change font color of the desktop folders
I have a gtk.css file in .config/gtk-3.0/ that is used to create coloured window title bars, larger window buttons, and larger coloured scrollbars. All working fine.
I can't say why your code no longer works, sorry.

Re: Changing app icons?
I have simple screen recorder and screenshot apps but both have exactly the same icon. Can I change one of them and if so how? Be useful if you said which Mint desktop you are using - xfce, mate, or cinnamon. If you are using cinnamon, rightclick on menu item and choose Properties, then proceed as ...

Re: Need nemo_action for open file as admin
I now have found this action-script, and it works as it should: [Nemo Action] Name=Edit with Root Comment=Edit as root Exec=xed admin://%F Icon-Name=text-editor-symbolic Selection=s Extensions=nodirs; Dependencies=xed; Thanks for that, I just added it to ~/.local/share/nemo/actions/ and it works well

Re: Inconsistent size title bar buttons
Hi everyone, I've recently started noticing that the title bar buttons on Thunderbird are a different size from those on my other apps. title_bar_screenshot.png Does anyone know why this is happening? I prefer the larger size of the Thunderbird title bar buttons and would love to change the rest of...

Re: Best source for latest version of LibreOffice for Linux Mint users?
The ppa is official. However when you run sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa you get this caution: "This PPA will have what the Document Foundation calls "LibreOffice fresh", the latest release of the newest series (but no alpha/beta releases)." .... "Most of the pa...

I want to have a contextmenu item to open a file as root/admin. So far I found an action-script called "Open-file-as-root.nemo_action". However, that doesn't work yet. ... The item appears in contextmenu and clicking on it opens password-window. After typing my pw nothing happens. Any ide...

Re: Who keeps changing how the icons in the task bar work?
SPAMEGG : yes "Grouped Windows List thumbnails" is exactly what is bothering me right now. One of the problems that I have, is trying to figure out what a "thingy" is actually called, to see if there is a way around unwanted "features". You could uninstall the Grouped ...

Re: Xviewer Image Gallery fills "Recent Files" list
Bump. I was hoping that after about 3 weeks and 70+ views someone may have had a way to address this issue... Viewing a pic in xviewer's image gallery certainly adds that file to the Cinnamon menu's Recent Files list and in Nemo's Recent list. Sorry but I can't see a way around that. I checked with...

Hi: Cntrl+Alt+ up arrow . This will switch you to a screen with an indication of your current desktop. There will be a plus sign at the middle of the extreme right; clicking on it will add desktops. Images ok, but it is not clear what exactly you mean by your question.
Those "indicators" are applets that can be enabled in the panel(s). What are you trying to achieve?

Re: Looking for a Program
It's on my 21.1 machine's software manager but it says it's for XFCE. k3b and Brasero are two others you might want to look at. I'm sure xfburn will work in Cinnamon, I have played with it a couple of times. Personally I have used k3b for years and never had an issue with it. It does install a pile...

Re: How improve interface of Application Manager?
You don't need to extend the window. You can scroll down. The bad trend of scrollbar auto-hiding is another matter. But one can always disable that in Cinnamon. Though even with scrollbar autohide disabled, the default scroll bars are too thin and not well-contrasted, in my opinion. This post allow...
