Re: GStarCAD not AutoCAD - has anybody used it?

Try this: http://linuxaideddesign.blogspot.it/2012/03/draftsight-and-ubuntu-1204-lts-64bit.html I don't remember exactly what I did now, but I think the key is in modifying the the control file in the deb package. As I recall, I also changed the line “Architecture: i386” to “Architecture: x86”. I di...

Re: GStarCAD not AutoCAD - has anybody used it?

I haven't used GStarCad, but I have used the free version of Draftsight. It is very close to AutoCad and will interpret just about any version of dwg files. It works very well for me for 2D drawings, but does not do 3D. If you need 3D you have to pay for it. The only problem getting it installed in ...

Re: LinuxMint switches off wireless even in Windows.

I am not an expert, but I had a similar problem with a VAIO. In Linux, turning off the WIFI, then turning it back on results in a soft block. It may also be a bios setting. Apparently, almost all bios settings have to be set through the Sony Control Center (or whatever it is called) in Windows. Try ...

Re: Sony viao wireless

I had a similar problem with a Sony VAIO. I don't remember what we did to trouble shoot it off hand, but it boiled down to a soft block. Try this command in a terminal.

sudo rfkill unblock all

See if it connects.

Minitube has been working fine since version 1.8. Two days ago it started to crash. every time, when opening a video. The initial screen appears for less then a second, then the program closes. Re: Thunderbird 15 unable to create new email account

I don't know if this is related. I had a problem setting up a pop account. The Thunderbird setup wizard would only setup an IMAP account for my mail server. I went to File/Work Offline and set up the account manually. You can also disconnect from the Internet before opening Thunderbird.

Re: Permanently Change Cinnamon Mouse Cursor Themes

Thank you Beardedragon and GeneC for your efforts to help. I tried both of your tips. The only result of our efforts was to change the little white cursor to a black one. I can't get the white one back now. That's okay because the black one is easier to see. I can still get cursor of choice by chang...

Permanently Change Cinnamon Mouse Cursor Themes

Is there a way to permanently change the mouse cursor theme? I have researched this for hours and haven't found an answer. I removed DMZ-white and DMZ-black folders from usr/share/themes and that got the new theme working until the next time I log in. Each time I log in I have to open Cinnamon Setti...

Re: Headphone Jack Not Working

Check that the plugs for your headset are not loose. I have a Sony laptop with damaged jacks. My speakers work but the headphones don't. The plugs are standard but there is a slight difference between the plugs on the speakers and those on the head phones. In Cinnamon, Go to Menu/Preferences/Sound a...

I just want to add my vote to what you have already set. The weather appelet is one of the things I miss most since upgrading. The weather applet in gnome 2 was ideal.

Re: Favorite weather app for Maya (Cinnamon)?

I am glad to see your post, Steve. I don't know the name of it, if it has one, but I really miss the weather applet that came with gnome 2. I used the local weather.gov URLs and it gave me a cloud indicator and temperature on the panel. Clicking it provided current conditions, 7 - day forecast and a...

Re: File associations: "Open With"

I have a similar problem. I use Eudora, running under wine, for email. There doesn't seem to be any way to set it as the default email in LM 13 Cinnamon. This is an important problem for me. Also: I installed VLC for video and Audacious for audio. Even after setting these as default, Banshee continu...

Thankyou Altair4. I had already reviewed that post. Went back on your suggestion. No. 4 was the answer. There should be an easier to find way.
