How to get Quick launch buttons in Xfce

I have instaled Xfce 32 bit on my net book.
I am not able to add icons ( like Firefox, Word ..) to desktop or to taskbar as quicklaunch buttons.
Any advice as to how to do this

Still awaiting some advice.... Also how do I make it Squeeze XFCE so that I have a stable Xfce Debian edition LMDE (LinuxMint-Debian) is based on Debian's "testing" branch for the Rolling Release aspect. But, if you need a very 'stable' OS you might want to consider changing from 'testing...

LMDE is a rolling release. You can change the repos to whatever you like, Sid or Squeeze or continue with Testing. I'm not sure there are going to be releases of other desktops, but you can certainly add KDE or whatever else you want on your own. Reading this link from the LMDE forum should answer ...

Yes, it gives me a different DE to play with since my LMDE is Gnome. i installed xfce on my lmde. removed all gnome stuff like gnome-core, libs, nautilus etc. i even replaced gdm with slim. now its freakin' fast without all that gnome bloated stuff :lol: :lol: Can you help me by advising a step by ...

Do I have to anything 'special' with Squeeze release or continue with what I have. No, you do not need to do anything special. Just keep on rolling along. You are good to go. :wink: Nothing different or special ... if you are 'set' to Testing. Except wait a few hours for the 'testing' repositories ...

I was able to get all Leel 1 &2 updates following Clems instructions.
Mint update still shows 297 level 3 updates.
Do I need to download them. Quite a few applications there are not used by me
Will be thankful for advise.
