Re: Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

Interesting. Thanks for the help; I appreciate it! Good to know re: my system. For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any issues with multiple sound sources in Pulse's absence. I did do a little reading up and can see some of the advantages for Pulse in certain situations.

Re: Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

No, the sound isn't going through the video card -- I'm using the audio jack on my motherboard. I've purged pulseaudio, and so far the issue seems to be gone. Amusingly, nothing else seems to be affected. I'm wondering what the purpose of pulse is, especially if it's continuing to cause these kinds ...

Re: Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

Thanks for that suggestion! I upgraded my kernel to 4.18.0-18, which didn't fix the issue, nor unfortunately did disabling the timer-based scheduling. Anything else I ought to try? EDIT: I think disabling timer-based scheduling did help; it's less blatant of an issue now, but I'm still getting occas...

Re: Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

The reinstall didn't fix it; I'll try updating the kernel. Thanks!

Re: Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

I've tried the following, as per this thread: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=291155

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio

sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio

sudo alsa force-reload
I'll report back as to whether this has solved the issue or not.

[SOLVED] Audio hiccups in 19.1 fresh install

I recently installed 19.1 MATE, replacing an older MATE installation (18.something? I can't remember). Previously, I had no issues with audio. Now, with the same hardware, I'm experiencing occasional skips/hiccups in audio playback, once every 5 minutes or so. Specifically, it loops back on itself, ...

Caja quits abruptly after removing emblems

I'm on Linux Mint 15, Mate 1.6, Caja 1.6.1. What happens is that when I right-click on a file, go to emblems, and remove an emblem, then hit close or just X out the window, Caja crashes. This only happens on removal of an emblem; when assigning an emblem to a file it doesn't do this. Also, when I un...

Re: Alsamixer automute mutes even when headphones unplugged

Aaand looks like I got lucky right after I posted this and finally found the answer. For future reference, it looks like it had to do with my Intel HDA Audio drivers. There's actually a bug logged for this issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1064621/+activity Turns out I just...

Alsamixer automute mutes even when headphones unplugged

I'm running Linux Mint 14 MATE on a Dell XPS 15 L502X. My issue is that alsamixer's automute feature will mute even when headphones are not plugged in. The quick solution has been to disable it and enable it whenever I plug in headphones, but that's irritating and I'd like to get it working. This wa...

Nemo Slow to Load Folders [Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon]

I'm getting a noticable lag when navigating around standard folders in the filesystem. It's taking much longer than it should to load and display folder contents. I just set Nemo to default file manager and uninstalled Nautilus. I originally installed Linux Mint 14 Mate, but switched over to Cinnamo...

Hah! Thanks very much. I guess I just assumed there wasn't one because the main site only linked to source and RPM.

Trouble installing ZynAddSubFX from RPM

I'm running Maya MATE 64x on a Dell XPS 15 and I'm trying to install ZynAddSubFX. The only options seem to be compiling from source and installing from RPM. I chose the latter because I'm not entirely comfortable compiling from source just yet, though I'd be willing to give it a shot if this doesn't...
