Re: Weird Issue
Cinnamon. I only get the error when using Chrome. Firefox does nothing. I get nothing on the desktop and no error. I haven't tried another desktop, I can do that.proxima_centauri wrote:What desktop environment are you using?

Re: Weird Issue
When I try to drag a URL in Chrome it says, "Error while copying "/"." I don't know if that helps anything. I did update my kernel before doing this. I doubt that would have anything to do with my problem, but figured I would throw it our there.

Weird Issue
For some reason, I am no longer able to drag a URL from either Firefox or Chrome to the desktop and get it to make a link. I do this quite often, and would like to fix this. Any ideas?

Re: Software Manager Progress Bar Freeze
I'm going to add my name to this list. I still installs things ok, you just don't know when it's done. Not a big issue for me, just a minor annoyance.

Re: Moving to KDE from Cinnamon/Mate on Maya
I added it through Synaptic Package Manager. Just search for KDE and it will add all the other required packages. I am not a big fan of this version of KDE, but it is nice to have.

Re: Firefox Issues
This might work if you didn't get sent here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search-tools/ where there is no Google to add at this time. This new version of Firefox is trash. Seems to be causing lots of problems. Actually, there is Google to add. A whole lot of Google engines, starting on ...

Re: Firefox Issues
Maybe something went wrong in your Firefox profile. Run "firefox -P" to open the profile manager and create a new profile for testing purpose. If you don't meet these issues with a fresh new profile, then your current profile probably got wrecked. Firefox bugs are not Linux bugs. This mig...

Re: Firefox Issues
When I click on the arrow to manage search engines, then click get more search engines to add Google I get sent to this site: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search-tools/ And almost nothing is there. Not an official Google option for sure. Edit: I also hit restore defaults to see if that w...

Re: Firefox Issues
I see. :? I suppose that "Show search suggestions" is also enabled in your "Manage Search Engines" box? The problem might be in the search plugin itself. If you haven't tried this yet, try installing it again as described here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-firefox-search-plug...

Re: Firefox Issues
About your search box problem...have you tried this? Type about:config in your browser's address bar. Type browser.search.suggest.enabled in the filter bar on the page that loads. If the value of browser.search.suggest.enabled is false, double click on it to make it true. It was already true. Here ...

Re: Firefox Issues
Why would I want to install a third party add-on to fix something that shouldn't need fixing? If you don't want to use an add-on, then read this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/989978 Which language is selected in your Firefox when you right-click on some text input box? htt...

Bump... Anyone? This is why Linux will never make it on the desktop. Nothing ever works right out of the box, and there is no help. Have you installed the dictionary for your language? For example, in my addons I have the US English spellchecker installed. Also, have a look here; http://support.moz...

Re: Flash Player Crashing System
Disable hardware acceleration in Flash. Do this by right clicking on a Flash video when it is playing and un-check the box. That seems to help most people who have flash issues. It seems to be helping me so far. I should add that the problem seems to be affecting/caused by nVidia video cards.
