Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3
Note: I use Debian stable repos only. When the next stable (Buster) switches over, I run apt-update as usual, fix any bugs, and clear out any cruft before switching to the newest Mint repos. Is there a recomended automatic cruft detector for LMDE1 upgraded to LMDE2 (hopefully upgraded to) LMDE3? :)...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3
Has anyone tried installing Debian 9 Stretch then adding the LMDE 3 Cindy repository? I have, too much work for the those who aren't dedicated enthusiasts. Seriously, if you're the click it and run type, don't even think of trying this unless you're willing to get down and dirty trying to clean up ...

Re: LMDE 2 to LMDE 3
Not much, unless you want a major headache. The sys-v init system has been changed, in that it no longers prints out whether a service has been started or stopped. Mint's version of MATE is much more polished compared to Stretch. Some kernel dev packages have been removed & marked as obsolete - ...

Re: LMDE 2 to LMDE 3
I have Debian stretch stable with LMDE Betsy packages installed, it was a major pain switching from Jessie to Stretch. Fortunately, I sorted it all out by commenting out the LMDE repositories first and running aptitude update followed by aptitude. Using aptitude, I ripped out much of the LMDE Betsy ...

Re: MATE 1.18 updates
@clem, I did the mate-panel --reset command and logged out/back in after it reset my panels. However, the notification icons are greyed out and spaced out as the others have stated. I'm wondering if this is theme related as opposed to a change in gtk versions? I'm using paper/vertec-dark customized ...

Re: Problem on my new Intel core i3 6th gen. lapton
I had problems installing LMDE2 from the installer so I went with the Debian chroot netinstall method to install LMDE2 from scratch. You might even be able to install an updated kernel before you boot into your system. Good luck.

Try skippy-xd? You'll have to compile it though. https://github.com/richardgv/skippy-xd

Re: Cannot restore after hibernation
HI, Do you have a "resume=/dev/swap partition * " line in your grub kernel line? Better yet, you can test by hitting "e" then insert "resume=/dev/swap partition * " into the kernel boot line followed by f10 to boot. Then try hibernating and then turn on laptop, it shoul...

Re: DJME 2
Yes, I figured as much. I just don't have any 32-bit LMDE machines at home. And they won't let me play with Droids at work! Seems incredibly unfair. You could install ia32-libs and then run apt-get install -t --i386 android-tools-fastboot android-tools-adb android-tools-utils and it should use the ...

Re: DJME 2
Looking forward to that! Yes, I'm now using LMDE2 for everything except Fastboot and ADB access to Android devices. I believe there is something wrong in the 64-bit driver source, as I've had nothing but problems (especially with Fastboot flashes) under any 64-bit OS, be it LMDE2, Puppy Linux or Wi...

Re: DJME 2
Hi, I've been away for quite a while due to real life. Anyhoo, I came across this post since I was doing something similar, trying to configure a proper multiarch LMDE2 system. Basically starting with installing a 32bit system via debootstrap since the LMDE/LMDE2 installer kept failing to install to...

Hi,
This may not be the exact program you're looking for, but try fancontrol, it may help. I'm using it atm. Thinkfan may help but according to the description, it's for thinkpads. Both should be in the repos for Mint/Ubuntu/Debian.
