Re: Update Manager
Sounds like you just had a internet hiccup. Try waiting a little while, see if that helps. Fortunately, all your other updates will be valid, just not the ones associated with the "Restricted" files. I would also recommend going to Software Sources and for the server, have Linux Mint choose the Best...

Re: Disable OpenDNS
@untnu - As xenopeek mentioned above, if you're getting OpenDNS responses, then it's most likely an issue with your internet provider's DNS. Linux Mint has OpenDNS set up as a sort of fail-safe setting for the times you still want to connect to the internet but your IP's DNS servers are down. You ca...

Re: How do you instal Fuji Xerox DocuCentre 9000 Mint Nadia
I'm not on Linux right now, but there should be under "Settings" a Printer Manager or Printers or something like that. Or you can simply type in the menu search bar "printer" and it'll show it to you. Once you find it, click on it. You should then see it say "Add Printer". It will then give you the ...

Re: Repositories??
The /latest/ version isn't in the respositories that are already set up (however that even works... *shrug*) For an in-depth answer to this, check the forum here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=31954 Basically, it's a trade-off between stability (older versions that are known to w...

Re: Help!
Shouldn't need to do a reinstall... yet. Do what caf4926 said: look for the little shield emblem on the bottom right, click it, enter your password, wait for it to check for updates, then apply any and all that it finds. If this is the first time it updates, you'll probably have to do it twice; the ...

Welcome to the forums!
Need to know a bit about what desktop environment you're using: Cinnamon, Mate, XFCE...?
Also, what happens when you plug the printer into your computer when both are on?

Re: Internet Connection Sharing with iPhone?
Hmmm... there's only a couple reasons I can think of for why your iPhone can't see it: 1) The wireless connection somehow didn't get created. Can you make sure it did? Just go down to the Network Connection icon on the bottom right, left-click, and then make sure you see the name of the connection l...

Re: [SOLVED] USB Keyboard and Mouse Stopped Working
Not meaning to hi-jack this thread (I've already put a bug report in over on LaunchPad), but this also happens under Maya and with my laptop (i.e. not a USB keyboard or mouse). So while I can appreciate the "fix" of unplugging etc., seems to me like if Windows doesn't have the problem on a simple re...

Re: Internet Connection Sharing with iPhone?
I had this same problem. My iPhone would connect, but when it finally got an IP address, it was just the internal network (169.254.whatever). It appears that the iPhone doesn't like the "WEP 128-bit Passphrase option". Try disconnecting from the ad-hoc network you made, create a new one, but this ti...

Re: USB Mouse/Keyboard Not Working During Installation
@Cmar: There are a couple bug reports posted over on Mint's Launchpad site; just go to the main forum index page, scroll down to "Report Bugs", and click on the "Launchpad" link. Do a search and add your info. @Michael: The legacy USB option is available and already activated. I don't have the PnP O...

Re: USB Mouse/Keyboard Not Working During Installation
I, too, have this problem, but on my laptop with LM 14 64-bit MATE; every time I try, the mouse and keyboard freeze up. The numbers lock light stays on, trying ctrl+alt+del doesn't work, caps lock won't turn on... nothing. As you said, my keyboard/mouse work fine in Windows 7. If it were a hardware ...

Re: Yes, another ICS topic, but with a twist (I hope)
Wow, so I finally got it figured out. Without having to use Squid (sorry, stratus  ). After reading through the Ubuntu wiki a few more times, here's what I did: ISP<<-->>eth0<<-->>eth1<<-->>wifi router 1) Turned on "Shared to another computer" under the IPv4 of eth1 (when I tried turning it on...

Yeah, told you you'd have to play around a bit.

Re: Wifi to Ethernet...is it possible?
Go to Network Connections (I usually just click on the network icon, but it all depends on your DE), find your network adapter, Edit, then IPv4, and rather than DHCP in the pull-down menu, choose "Shared to Other Computers". I recommend restarting the system, but you can just disable/re-enable netwo...

Re: SOLVED - HP computers and Linux distributions
Wait, just a quick question. You said: If I download Linux Mint live .iso and burn it to a disk, the HP computer will not read it. It just acts as if there were nothing in the disk reader and loads the GRUB menu as normally done. This may be a simple one that you've already checked off, but I couldn...

Re: Updating without live internet connection
Be careful to make sure you have the same architecture on your computer and on your friend's (i.e. 32-bit or 64-bit). There's some good help here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/974/how-can-i-install-software-or-packages-without-internet-offline Look a few answers down (ignore the first one about Ke...

Re: Yes, another ICS topic, but with a twist (I hope)
If I were in your situation I would do something like squid. In my actual setup I have the following pfsense (with dns/dhcp off) ---> squid (which hosts dns/dhcp) ---> wireless router basically squid handles all my internet requests and shovels them out to the pfsense box which does the firewall/ro...

[SOLVED] Yes, another ICS topic, but with a twist (I hope)
OK, so I've found many topics about sharing an internet connection. Most of them generally have to do with the following: 1) "I have a wired internet connection and want to share it via wifi on my laptop." 2) "I have a wired internet connection and want to share it through a second NIC that is wired...
