Re: Progressive changes and fixes for Cinnamon and possible

Some of the things you are asking for are already there in standard cinnamon: * If things come up too small for your 4K display then switch to hidpi mode. (settings, general). * If you don't want anything on your desktop then turn off the desktop icons (settings, desktop, show desktop icons off) Int...

Re: Your opinions on Windows 10 so far..

installed it on my modern but very underpowered acer aspire touch v3-112P which had windows 8.1 triple booted with rafaela and lmde2. The install took for ever, but the end result looks reasonable enough. I could swear they are trying to make it look like cinnamon ;-) The issue I have is that it is ...

Re: Linux Mint 17.2 “Rafaela” Cinnamon RC released!

It's there as an option - in nemo edit, preferences, display, tick context menu box. Won't work on the desktop if you unclick show desktop icons, but that seems sensible to me [i.e. you are turning nemo off from managing the desktop] although some might differ

Cinnamon 2.6 and touch screens

Cinnamon may not be designed as a touchscreen interface, but it does actually handle touch pretty well for a large number of touch events. If you happen to be using it on a touchscreen laptop there are a number of touchscreen facilities that are worth being aware of as additional means of controllin...

Re: Inactive Cinnamon Desktop since upgrade.

check settings, desktop, show desktop icons is on. You will have no right click menu etc. if it is turned off, as these are provided by nemo, and if the desktop icons are turned off then it will not be managing the desktop.

(solved) Right touchpad click in Acer Aspire V11 Touch

Re: About Betsy

Just installed in VB. had some issues looping round into a reinstall, either because I did not give enough disk space or because I asked the install to reboot. Anyway, with enough disk space (30GB), taking the link to the install media off, and doing my own reboot it all started fine. Seems good so ...

Broadcom BCM43228 wifi under kernel 3.16.0-25 mint 17.1

If you upgrade to the most recent kernel available for 17.1 (at the time of writing) 3.16.0-25 and you use the Broadcom linux sta wifi driver, then it is going to need to be rebuilt. I have a BCM43228 card in my laptop, so I had to do this. The code and instructions are here http://www.broadcom.com/...

Re: Tad bit concerned

LM17.1 is rock solid in my experience. Check your installation media (MD5 sum etc.), and perhaps seek help on the IRC support channel #linuxmint-help. Perhaps you have a driver problem. There is no point waiting for bugs that aren't there to get sorted !

Re: Install Gnome 3.14 on Mint 17?

Mint 17.1 is based on GTK+3.10 You are almost certain to see regressions of some sort if you install something based on GTK+3.14 on Mint 17 or 17.1

Mint 17.1 is built on the Ubuntu 14.04 Long Term Support base. It is most certainly a 'stable' release.

The development team stagger the releases of their desktop versions. I am sure that Clem will let us know when it is available, closer to its release.

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 codenamed 'Rebecca'

Clem has posted a script to migrate keybindings in the main release note, for those who update using apt. As far as upgrading in place: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2703#comments I followed post 2 for the RC. Works fine, and it will act the same way for the full release now that is out. I later made...

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 codenamed 'Rebecca'

Keybindings have changed, so if you have set up custom keys I doubt that just changing the apt sources or a dist upgrade would manage the migration. Some small stuff like this might fall through the cracks this way, but if you have a straightforward installation now I doubt that would matter. I upgr...

Re: workspace switching problem

There are four ways of moving an application that I am aware of. 1) Drag it, and then use the arrow keys when the tiling effect pops up 2) right click on the icon of the running application in the panel (centre), and choose the option to move workspace 3) Use the key combo to shift it, on my compute...
