Re: More colors for Mint-Y
Maybe a slight revival of the minty colors project would be nice to streamline the colour changing process to match with the wallpaper in use. Not sure how it can be done, really but it's certainly possible. For the Compiz users who also somehow managed to get Emerald working, Ordinary Shiki Wise is...

How about Discourse?
Figured I would post this since Discourse, being an open-source forum tool could very well be more secure if configured correctly than our present solution. It would put the forum on hold for a few days, but I believe Discourse to be fairly more powerful than phpBB, especially when it comes to devel...

Oxygen Mint
It's been a long time since I've been here, hasn't it? Anyway, I decided to attempt making an oxygen icon set specifically for MATE in general. I've decided to call this set oxy-mint-unofficial and it provides as follows; oxy-mint : A duplicate of oxy-grey with recoloured busy icons oxy-mint-dark : ...

Affect popup / dropdown menus only when window is sticky?
I've tried this already, and I don't seem to know what I am doing. While this match condition I am looking for normally makes zero sense to do, I've been using Compiz Reloaded (0.8.12) and I am using Static WIndows, Desktop Cube and Screen Saver in conjunction to make it so all sticky windows are re...

Compiz Reloaded; The backport lives!
Introduction It is the backport that refuses to die! Compiz Reloaded had recently been unleashed into the wild, and both the Compiz enthusiasts and MATE development communities didn't skip a beat with this one. Remember anaglyph? Remember blur effects? Remember having endless animations to choose f...

Re: Install Pepper Flash in Firefox, no Chrome necessary [15+]
This seems horribly broken at the moment. I would recommend for newbies starting out to skip adding the Pepper Flash PPA and install Google Chrome instead, following this article to resolve repo issues after; http://www.webupd8.org/2016/03/fix-failed-to-fetch-google-chrome_3.html If you still encoun...

Where does Mate's lock screen panel applet live?
As it says on the tin. I recently wrote a lengthy thread about installing xscreensaver in a way that doesn't involve superseding the existence of the default screensaver, and I recently discovered that despite my best efforts, the lock screen applet still relies on the default screensaver binaries. ...

Re: [MATE] How to properly set up XScreensaver
Added information about spoofing gnome-screensaver when the system_management.py file in the updated OP is in use, giving people an easy means to fix the screensaver command stuff when "Lock Screen" is clicked on from Mint Menu both while XScreensaver is installed and after XScreensaver ha...

Re: How to install with manual partitioning
That's an especially handy thing if you are using NTFS to make a big partition you can use in Windows without compatibility software. I made this handy little script during the install process to make that possible; mkdir /path/to/Downloads mkdir /path/to/Documents mkdir /path/to/Videos mkdir /path/...

Re: [MATE] Things to do after installing XScreensaver
My OP missed a step. Not sure if you need to, but I added a step to disable the old screensaver first through mate-screensaver-preferences before anything else. I also botced up xscreensaver-command. My keyboard sucks.

[MATE] How to properly set up XScreensaver
Edit from original; Terminal commands were italicized before, but are now underlined to differentiate them from italics used for emphasis. Using Xfce? XScreensaver is the screensaver by default! No long-winded introduction or rationale, just a simple guide for getting XScreensaver up and running. I...

Re: Install Pepper Flash in Firefox, no Chrome necessary [15
I figured I would reply with some information during my long-term use of this before I buggered off and left this thread to rot; For some reason after some upgrade Firefox refuses to boot until I uninstalled the freshplayer package. As it stands I am writing this in Linux Mint 17.1 live with freshwr...

XCF thumbnails [GNOME] [MATE]
Introduction Just a quick post about these; If you've used GIMP, you've probably used the XCF format once or twice. Maybe, multiple times depending on if you're working with a project where you need to perform many iterations for a client; you could shove your iterations of a project into a new fol...

How to get the most out of KDE cursors (outside of KDE)
This guide is more-or-less specific to the Oxygen cursors, but may apply to others KDE has some awesome cursors. Too bad then, when you try to use them outside of KDE, some things become broken, like the resize cursors, or even the fact you need to change the system cursor theme. So until the Ubunt...

Help fix my PulseAudio LADSPA EQ; Peaking and clipping
I had installed the LADSPA PA EQ on my computer because I wanted to improve how my audio sounds. I would go with the FFT EQ but that doesn't become automatically selected, whereas the LADSPA-powered EQ works on login. My issue is with the audio peaking and clipping. An easy fix for this is to lower ...
