Thank you
I tried copying the various files across, 1 at a time and logout and in.
This did not make any difference.

Re: How to disable a network connected printer [Solved]
I had this issue as well and Rene's solution works, thank you.
In my case the default, mint provided printer, would not scan to file, adding brothers software fixed that but then i was left with 2 x printers.

Re: thumbnails and icons
Thank you. I went and had a look. I renamed the following 2 x files. gsf-office.thumbnailer and xreader.thumbnailer to .bak found here as you said: /usr/share/thumbnailers also as per that post, removed the thumbnails ~/.cache/thumbnails . The result was instant. I rebooted and the settings held. Ne...

thumbnails and icons (solved)
Hi, I'm using mint mate 21 Is there anyway (in caja) to stipulate that photos show thumbnails, but all the rest of the files display as "never show thumbnails." The reason I ask this , its easier to find a picture when there is a preview of the pic. Especially in pictures folder. (ie thumb...

Re: Cifs sharing woes
Thanks Altair4 I reverted to the way i was doing it originally per 1st post. This at least does not lock me out of the local directories when network unavailable. I still have the issue re 2nd user not getting to correct directory at first try. This was happening with both methods. Hopefully, maybe ...

Re: Cifs sharing woes
Ok im, a little confused here. May I ask why you want this to automount? This was your suggestion in the tut. Did i misinterpret that? [2] You can also do a systemd automount. In this case I will create the mount point under /mnt: Select all //server/share /mnt/mountpoint cifs guest,uid=altair,nouni...

Re: Cifs sharing woes
Ok
so thank you i managed to get everything converted over.
Returned the older cifs method to nil
But
I still have the same issue.
There must be something on my pc thats causing the issue.
On the Vbox all went well for both users.

Re: Share Folders using Samba in Home Network with Mint 21
Altair thank you as usual.
But i have to ask, why isn't networking ie samba and all components required, part of the package?
For a brand new user this is a big killer.
