Re: return to windows emotional support group

My kids have the right idea when it comes to operating systems, if the software they like runs in it they are happy. Windows has it's uses, there is no denying that! My wife insists on Windows 10 for her gaming rig and rightly so. Windows can be tweaked and adjusted for the privacy concerns many of ...

Re: What type of computer or device do you primarily use?

My primary device lately is an acer 15 Chromebook. It looks elegant, loaded with features and gets 14 hours of battery life! I paid $329.00 for the Chromebook and the build quality is amazing for the price. I love the 15.6" touch screen display and the back lit keyboard. I have desktops, other lapto...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

I stumbled across Kubuntu 18.04 over hardware issues I had with Linux up until the 4.15 kernel came about. I had to run Windows 10 up until that point... I used development builds of Ubuntu 18.04 and liked it other than its resource use and it just looked dated after looking at Windows 10. I started...

Yes, I came home from work tonight and updates were there for plasma 5.12.5! I am really impressed with this release and hope this trend continues!

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

KDB47, I agree completely! I have seen comparisons on YouTube, KDE is nearly as light as xfce now and has far more features. The nice modern look plasma 5.12 has is hard to beat too! :D

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

Just throwing my opinion into the mix here but I think Kubuntu 18.04 is the way to go if you want to continue with KDE and the plasma desktop. I like many different desktop environments and I have not ran KDE on a day to day basis for years but Kubuntu 18.04 has completely changed my opinion. The LT...

Re: Cinnamon VS Mate VS KDE VS XFCE. A list of comments I found around.

KDE has gotten considerably lighter over time. I have Kubuntu 18.04 installed on one of my desktops and memory use at start up is only 364 MB. :D

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

151tom, I agree! Ubuntu 18.04 is an excellent release! Wayland works great with Gnome, at least with both my AMD graphics in my laptop and desktop, snaps are interesting, and Gnome 2.28.1 is pretty darn nice. :D The ability to upgrade the kernel without rebooting is awesome too. Lots of good things ...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 is almost here.

The Kubuntu version if you like KDE does not suffer the memory leak. and is quite good and stable, but did not try it with wayland. I tried Kubuntu on my laptop, wayland worked with it but there were a lot of quirks. On Gnome wayland has been usable on a daily basis on both machines. Both are using...
