Mint 20 install over 19.3 issues
Hi. Been on 19.3 Cinnamon for a few months and it has been near flawless. My interest to move to 20 was to check out the warpinator network sharing tool. Anyway install did not go as smoothly as I expected. This complicated by having a tri-boot setup (Windows 10, Manjaro and Mint). My root on 19.3 w...

Re: LM Trisha 19.3 cannot update during installation
OK, problem solved. I had used nomodeset during installation so needed to also use it to boot into the OS. Once into desktop, I was easily able to install the necessary drivers and all is well now. Thanks.

Re: LM Trisha 19.3 cannot update during installation
Thanks, but I cant get into the desktop, black screen. Only command line. What would the commands be to test and choose a working server?
p.s btw, I dont think the ubuntu repositories were down. I could connect to them from windows and see their nested directories.

[Solved] LM 19.3 Tricia cannot update during installation
This one has me surprised. I've tested about 5-6 different ubuntu based distros over past month and none of them had this issue, only Trisha 19.3. During install I chose the option to install 3rd party software/drivers for my Nvidia card. After install and reboot, just black screen. Had to use recov...

Re: 4k monitor support
No, resolution would not be affected. Although the icons, text, etc can be scaled up, the high DPI makes them appear sharp, well defined. You cannot see the pixels on 4k as easily as you would on 1440p or 1080p. If you go 4k, try not to go below 32", because anything less will not get the full...

Re: 4k monitor support
many users with 4k screens have to scale up their display settings because icons are too small, because of all the extra pixels. This would seem to defeat the purpose of 4k, if everything is scaled up, wouldn't resolution be affected? No, resolution would not be affected. Although the icons, text, ...

Re: How to make Nvidia HDMI audio default
Thanks, got it working. Just that there is a 2 or 3 sec delay before sound engages when playing music files or youtube vids. Same issue with windows 10, but that was easily resolved by a reg tweak involving the power idle states. I wonder which config files these may pertain to in Linux?

How to make Nvidia HDMI audio default
Hello. Been a few years away from Mint so not up to par on audio situation. In the sound applet, I can select Nvidia HDMI audio connection but it will not stick and reverts back to the built-in audio default. Either way I get no sound like this. When I kill the pulseaudio process, I am able to get t...

Re: Linux Mint 16 "Petra" Cinnamon RC released!
Hmm.. with mint 16 as guest in virtualbox, I cant access shared windows folders. It just hangs when I click on them. Never had this issue with mint 15, 14 and 13.

Re: Linux Mint 15 "Olivia" RC released!
Is it just me or is the Users and Groups applet missing from the control center? (Mate 32bit edition).

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC
Cant get the mate-search tool to find anything in the File System, only works in home folder. Even if run as admin. This on 2 different installs of RC 14 (Mate), one in Virtualbox and another on hard drive.

Re: Adding scroll bar `up' and `down' arrows in LM 13
If the scrollbar and/or buttons are too small for your liking, install the package gnome-color-chooser, start the application (System > Preferences > GNOME Color Chooser), go to the "Specific" tab, put checkmarks next to Scrollbar width and button size, and specify a size. I'm using size ...
