Re: Window issue
Hey Reddit.
I have no idea what those things are so I'm going with 'No I don't use them'. Might have to wait for an update or try a fresh install.

Hi all. For some reason whenever I open a window such as a browser the window immediately collapses to the tool bar. I have to left click 'unmaximise' or 'Restore' several times before the window opens. Even then it's only the smaller window. If I try to maximise them the windows collapse to the too...

Hi all. So I had an external hard drive give up the ghost and had to use testdisk to rescue my files. Got most of them back but for some reason they are all presented with a padlock on them. Is there a way I can get rid of the padlock so I can write to them without having to sudo? Couldn't find anyt...

Heads up on boot menu [Solved}
Hi.
This isn't bothering me but I figured I might as well mention it..
on boot up I get a message asking me to either enter 'S' to skip mount or 'something else' to repair.
Thanks

Thank you for this!
Testdisk worked a treat. I lost a few files that it couldn't recover BUT I got the most important ones.
External drive now in the bin. Will be buying a new one.
Good advice. Thank you!

Hi. Yesterday I formatted an external drive to the nfts format. Then using what was then an Ubuntu installation I put all my music and videos on it. After seeing if the files were visible to Ubuntu, I unplugged the drive and plugged it into my Windows laptop where it showed up no problem. So this mo...

Hi All. I'll keep this short. I bought an Acer Aspire v5 laptop with windows 8. I hated the OS so put Mint on it so it was compatible with my desktop. I honestly do not know why or how but after a couple of months of minty bliss the laptop spat it out and locked me out of its BIOS and now requires a...

Re: What are your top tips for a Newbie?
Try not to get too attached because after a short while getting used to running Mint, you will never want to go back. I'm at the stage now where I can no longer see the reasoning behind running windoze. Though I CAN see why someone might prefer Mac..at least with Linux you are in the Unix family.. b...

Re: Cooked hard drive?
Hey Mark. Cheers for that. I couldn't find the .iso but downloaded the .exe for it and installed it using wine without a hitch. I can see that this tool would readily fix the hard drive IF the hard drive could be seen by the computer. It doesn't show up at all. Or minitool would surely fix it I'm su...
