Thanks for the response mank_in however i had come across that article whilst searching for a fix and did in fact install those 3 packages but it made no difference and spotify refuses to play local files. Very strange

Thanks for your reply Scriptiee ffmpeg was not installed so i installed it and libavdevice54, libavfilter3, libswresample0 came with it. Sorry to report that this did not help. I have exactly the same problem as dumonde, i have not changed anything myself except to update the system using synaptic. Ah you wish to remove the Ip, i was thinking ports in my example.
