Re: Please help with Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless Adapter

Hi. I'm running Rebecca on my laptop and it finds RTL8191S after the below steps.. My laptop default WLAN is a broadcom and it functions well but I prefer to use the 8191S for better range/speed. My adapter is external. Linux does not recognize its presence until I have disconnected and reconnected ...

Thanks.

(I will add here in case someone else uses this info that I had to redo the video and music sources in XBMC as the old file path was then incorrect, but this only needs doing once.)
Nice one.

Re: XBMC and automount other drives?

Sounds like you'll need to edit your fstab. As the UUID of a drive does not change, it is more reliable than using dev/sda dev/sdb etc. sudo blkid to get the UUID of the drive you want to mount create a directory in /media/name of your computer/. Give it a meaningful name eg: music-videos sudo pluma...

Hi all. Not a linux newbie but manners dictate an intro.

Hi there fellow Linuxians, I've been a Linux user since Mint 11 Katya (released 26 May 2011). I had tried Linux previously in the form of Ubuntu 8.04 (released 24 April 2008), but installation was unsuccessful and I returned to the Windows flock. I had thought then that Linux was Ubuntu only and was...

Re: Desktop Manager has quit in Mint 17 Mate

I had the same problem and so performed a fresh install of 17 mate. Desktop Preferences does not exist in the Control Centre with a fresh install . This implies that Desktop Preferences is added to the Control Centre after installation of additonal software. As I had installed quite a bit of softwar...

Re: XFCE 4.10 plugins (most not working, rare error msg?)

On the new 'LMint13-XFCE RC... anyone planing on installing any component of xfce (like plug-ins) should activate the XFCE4.10 PPA. (reloading sources) before search/install! Be leery of anything with version 4.8 (just may not re-written yet or merged with another (probably don't work anymore), or ...
