Re: LMDE 201108 RC (Gnome & Xfce) released!

First I'd like to say that I really want LMDE to work. I have a feeling it is going play a bigger and bigger part in Mint's future. However, I'm having a hard time with it. I realize this is an RC release, but still, here's my problem. I have an HP Netbook with a Broadcom wireless card so I know I ...

Re: Mint in the Future

Also making a small donation would not hurt either--in this way, Clem could get a good vacation and come back all refreshed to do more good work.

Where do I read more about what's coming up Linux Mint 11+1

Hi there, I am so impressed with Mint 11, I am getting bored having a completely unbreakable and usable OS. Everything just works and is tweakable! I was wondering where someone could get the development version of the next release of Mint 12*? Or even just read more about what is being planned for ...

Re: Linux Mint 11 LXDE RC: some bug reports

I have redownloaded checked sums and burnt the cd using Windows burner and Gnomebaker (in Linux Mint 11 GNOME).--and I have tried installing on a laptop without nvidia or ati graphics card--intel graphics integrated card only; and no success.

Re: [solved]nvidia driver problem

adding ppa repo to Debian (LMDE) --is this even possible or 'safe'? This blog http://blog.anantshri.info/howto-add-ppa-in-debian/ seems to have tried it. EDIT: I just tried the steps in the blog--but get lots of errors when trying to add the ppa $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:iaz/battery-status Trace...

Re: Linux Mint 11 LXDE RC: some bug reports

Thanks-- I should have mentioned I am using Mint 11 GNOME to post that output. The problem I am having is loading Live CD of LXDE 11rc on this machine--it goes straight to a black screen then a terminal prompt. Much like what the previous poster mentioned. Anyway, it is good to know that the nouveou...

Re: Linux Mint 11 LXDE RC: some bug reports

oh, okay--I guess it is a pass for me as well. I have nvidia card, so Mint LXDE 11rc, falls back to command line, and startx does not work at all. tried in compatibility mode as well, but no joy.

Will see how the Gold Master version adapts to the nvidia compatibility problem.

Use GnomeBaker rather, better results; else burn in Windows if you have it.

Re: LM11 x64 nvidia gforce 330m: adjust screen brightness

The reason I asked was previous editions of LM worked fine; I did not have to instruct kernel to use Linux OS to control the brightness; this has changed since then? or did I miss something in the interim. But your point is well made. That is why I use Gnu Linux, I like the way it makes me be "in ch...

Re: LM11 x64 nvidia gforce 330m: adjust screen brightness

It worked like a charm. Many thanks.

Problem [solved].

So, how is someone new to LM supposed to figure this out? is it a bug? Will it be included in future updates? Is it a nvidia specific issue?

Just curious.

LM11 x64 nvidia gforce 330m: adjust screen brightness

I can't seem to adjust screen brightness in AC or on battery. (1) Fn togggle with arrow up/down does not work at all (2) This fix http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10854985&postcount=12 also does nothing (3) Using the nvidia settings "color correction" [as suggested here http://www.pramonotungg...

Re: LMDE latest respin: to install on Dell Vostro 3700

okay, after downloading and installing the updates--LMDe loads to the GDM screen and hangs--nothings works, mouse if frozen, and keyboard is disabled. Only hard boot gets me out of the screen. So I guess, my machine is not ready for LMDE yet. I am going back to LM 11 x64 (posting from it now). Thank...

Re: LMDE latest respin: to install on Dell Vostro 3700

I eventually downloaded the LMDE x64 (full 900MB+); and installed it. Installation went without a glitch. Now the MintUpdate wants to update 864MB+ of data--this like almost the size of the full DVD. I was afraid of this, hence I asked if there was a latest respin to avoid downloading the whole dist...

LMDE latest respin: to install on Dell Vostro 3700

Hi there, I have been using Mint 11 x64 for a while now; but would now like to give LMDE x64 a try on this hard ware (nvidia and broadcom); I see the last download version is from Dec 2010/Jan 2011. Is there a more recent respin of LMDe, with the most recent updates and bug fixes (if any). Please al...

Re: Can't shutdown, reboot or suspend

Hi all, having an odd issue with shutdown/suspend etc. When choosing the options from the menu the system logs out as normal and then sits at a black screen. The graphics driver is unloaded at that point (made obvious by the sound of the fan going nuts) as is normal during shutdown/suspend but it g...

Mint 11 is also a bit snappier than Ubuntu (vanilla).--not sure why, but guess has to do with Dev removing some of the apps that make it Ubuntu???

Have you tried compatibility mode?
