Re: 32 bit vs. 64 bit WiFi Driver (I think)

I did the following: ndiswrapper -r bcmn43xx32 And it broke my Windows 7 WiFi. As expected. That said...before I fixed it in Windows 7 again by utterly re-installing...while it was still broken it Windows, I did the following. First, I typed the command “ndiswrapper -l”, I got this output: bcmn43xx6...

32 bit vs. 64 bit WiFi Driver (I think)

I have a dual boot on my computer. In Windows 7, Device Manager calls my USB WiFi device: "NETGEAR WNDA3100v2 N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter" I installed this just fine in Windows 7. It works. I then tried to install it in Linux Mint 18.2 (sonya). I could "kinda" get it working *if* I did a "su...

Re: *Twice Now: Never Got Response* Wake Up from Standby Via Keyboard or Mouse

Thanks for the excellent tip. Indeed, both my keyboard and mouse are USB connected.

Any idea if this applies to Bluetooth connected devices too?

Re: Comic Creator

Thanks! Couldn't find tbo in 18.2 with Cinnamon, but I found the site on gnome.org: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/TBO This, in turn, linked to: https://github.com/danigm/TBO/wiki I found the .deb file on there, downloaded and installed. It required 31 other packages to install. I decided to go for it ...

[SOLVED] Re: Cinnamon in Mint 18.2 - Can't Move Icons

Thanks for the reply! That's it!

For anyone who reads this in the future...

note that when right-clicking...Desktop is an option towards the bottom of the Menu.

I didn't see that for a while and clicked Desktop Settings or Change Desktop Background.

[SOLVED] Cinnamon in Mint 18.2 - Can't Move Icons

In 18.2 with Cinnamon, I can't move my icons around at all. Or even files on the Desktop.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I do have my Desktop on a separate partition if that matters for some odd reason.

Thanks in advance!

[SOLVED] Data Lost via Partition Creation: Linux Deep Scan?

Let me just say this:

testdisk is amazing once you play with it a while. It will drive you crazy at first when you do a deep scan and then lose it...again and again at first. The interface isn't perfect, but it's good enough.

testdisk = SOLVED

Re: Data Lost via Partition Creation: Linux Deep Scan?

Thanks. Trying testdisk. Very slow as expected, but has a decent menu-based system (via text). Run testdisk from a terminal command prompt. Also, for others looking in the future, found it's site: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk Will let you know what happens. In the meantime, open to any/a...

[SOLVED] Data Lost via Partition Creation: Linux Deep Scan?

(Before any of this, let me start off by saying "I know, I know...I should have backed up better/smarter." Lesson learned.) Somehow my Windows boot loader got messed up. In using the Windows installation disk, I went to Repair Disk. It gave me an option to fix the Boot. So I did. When I came back in...

[Solved] Wake Up from Standby Via Keyboard or Mouse

(Sorry to re-post this, but tried last week and still haven't heard anything.) In a previous version of Linux Mint also with Cinnamon (which I still use), I had my System Settings under Power Management and Screensaver set some when that I can't recall. I'm trying to figure out how to: Lock the Scre...

Re: Convert file from .pdf to .odt

Not sure this will help people who come across this post in the future (like I just did), but just in case: http://www.ihaveapc.com/2012/09/quickly-extract-text-and-convert-pdf-files-to-text-in-linux-mintubuntu/ Obviously...it's aimed at Ubuntu but should work on Mint too since it's built on Ubuntu.
