Re: Discuss ways to promote Mint here

reverend_nerd: I love the concepts! Zwopper: I too like the first of your edits. My suggestion would be to perhaps place a colon after "Mint" instead of a comma... "Mint: For teas, drinks, and your PC!" Also, would it look good if the text were lined up with the sloping edge of the glass? Nice job b...

Maybe this post will help? I'm not at my linux box, so I can't test this myself.

Re: WOTW #007 Vote

I voted for "Simply Mint", which IMHO is very elegant. I liked the cleverness of "From Freedom Came Elephants". It made me laugh out loud :D ... I also very much like the font used in "Mint Anthracite". What is it called?

Great work, everyone!

Re: Linux Mint Studio

Im thinking we can snazz up gimp with a load of new brushes, patterns and plugins etc? I have some stuff to share there. It would be excellent if Linux Mint could offer some quality brushes, patterns, etc. by default! That's one of the areas where the GIMP is really lacking. I like the idea of a .m...

Re: A new wallpaper by me :)

Hehe, that font was my little monster. It hasn't improved that much unfortunately :(
It's here

I like the 3D effect of the logo :D
I would start the background gradient with a light gray instead of a white, though. Personal preference :)

Make Any Folder be the Desktop

Hi everyone :D A while ago I posted an idea to let the user use any folder as the desktop . I think I finally got it right this time :P I've created some tools to let you do this graphically through Nautilus. 1) Open a terminal 2) sudo mv Desktop Desktop-default 3) ln -s Desktop-default Desktop 4) m...

Clem, this is so exciting :D Okay, so I have a question. Could there be a special level for programs installed through mintInstall? Like if a mint file has an external source, you could add it to an internal list inside mintInstall. Then you could check for updates to programs using that list as wel...

I think we should have a mint tool for this, but keep it in for now. Perhaps a compromise would be to take update-notifier off of the list of start-up programs, so that the user must be at least semi-conscious of her decision to update the system.
