Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

It appears I have failed dismally at my resolution to return to a Squeeze/Xfce 4.8 setup. Playing with LMDE again and have moved to a variant of the atolm-gtk3 theme which works in testing. I like this setup a lot :) Clean http://s3.postimage.org/1tbfs04uc/Screenshot_1.jpg Dirty http://s3.postimage....

Re: POLL: Are you tracking new Mint Repo or "Debian Testing"

I do mix testing, unstable and experimental using apt-pinning. While packages are generally installed from testing, I like certain programs in userspace to be more up to date. This is my configuration in /etc/apt/preferences: Package: * Pin: release o=linuxmint Pin-Priority: 700 Package: * Pin: ori...

Re: My New Linux Mint LMDE desktop

What theme/colors are you using? I've been trying to configure Gnome how I want it (which is a lot like how you have it) but I'm used to KDE and can't figure out how to get things like window transparency. The theme I'm using is called DarkShible-mono. You can get it here. It's one I hacked togethe...

Re: News from Clem ! Future of LMDE, snapshot system, etc...

I haven't been in touch with lmde for a while. This snapshot system sounds excellent. Here's hoping it's up and running before Gnome 3 hits the repos. It would be good to get the bugs ironed out (mint style) before switching over :)

Re: when did Linux become mainstream?

I have read in a major Linux publication in a letter to the editor that Ubuntu forums are written by illiterates for illiterates. I think you'd get quite few people agreeing with that statement. @pompom, I don't understand the point you are making nor the question. It needs some clarification. What...

Re: Make mintUpdate work through proxy

going nuts in trying to get the update manager to work both in office and home. I can get apt-get to work at home but not in office. So i suppose proxy is somehow interfering. Steps I have taken have not resolved the issue. So I suppose, i should list the steps I have taken: Added proxy settings in...

The short answer is no. LMDE uses a Debian base and is not compatible with the main edition.

dpkg doesn't seem to add an entry to your sources.list like installing with gdebi does.
