Re: Why use workspaces?

I am really happy about the possibility of using multiple workspaces, and miss it a lot when I have to work on a windows machine; I often use different workspace during a session for work related windows/programs, for private stuff, or for working on remote machines etc; it is also handy when you ru...

Re: Pepper Flash in Chromium, won't save?

I found now a workaround that does the job for me: I added the command for activating pepper flash in the rc.local: open the file with sudo nano /etc/rc.local (or use another editor than nano) and paste the command line sudo sh -c 'echo ". /usr/lib/pepflashplugin-installer/pepflashplayer.sh" >>/etc/...

Re: Pepper Flash in Chromium, won't save?

Sorry for bringing up again this old thread, yet I have the same problem as Thommo has described: Following above linked how-to, I am able to get pepper flash running in chromium. However, after I reboot the computer, the changes in the /etc/chromium-browser/default are gone. I even tried to make th...

Re: That new volume toggle sound in Cinnamon is awful

in cinnamon 2 (if i'm not mistaken mint 16 comes with it) i found it in the cinnamon settings --> sound --> there in the third tab (i guess it might be called sound effects; but i don't know exactly what it is in english). does anybody know, in which folder the standard sounds should be in? since i ...

Re: Cinnamon 2.0 - Dual Monitor Issue - A Configuration Prob

with further updates of the cinnamon desktop, the above mentioned error message disappeared. unfortunately - the problem still exists, that i can't use dual monitor set-up under cinnamon, if the monitors are not set "mirroring." i was however able to get a screenshot how it looks like, if i uncheck ...

Re: cinnamon control center

good explanation @ sebbouckaert i think i read somewhere, that cinnamon 2 should be backported to mint 13 by the end of november. however, the update from last night, bringing cinnamon-session-dameon, brought the control center back to me. clock is also working now (through the way angloid described...

Re: cinnamon control center

@ Angloid, kiitos for the hint with the clock - unfortunately it doesn't work with me: Even when setting manually to H% (which is supposed to be hour in 24h mode), it still shows the 12h clock. Which brings me to another aspect: since the upgrade, some dialogue boxes are only in english (main langua...

Re: cinnamon control center

i have a similar issue. plus, since the upgrade to cinnamon 2 the clock can't be set to 24h modus any longer. also touchpad, mouse, and "turn off button" behaviour have change since the upgrade - but the settings can't be changed. so bascially, i can still find the various setting guis by searching ...

Cinnamon 2.0 - Dual Monitor Issue - A Configuration Problem?

I didn't find any similar problem, so I'm starting a new thread: I am running Cinnamon since quite a while already on Mint 13, and so far couldn't get a dual monitor setup working properly. I have a notebook in a docking station with an external monitor connected. As long as the monitors are mirrori...

Re: Canon LBP-810 - not working under Mint 13 - 32bit

Well, I got the printer to work, even thoug I don't know how and what I did to make it do so .. I removed again the .deb files and tried an older version of the driver --> no luck; I installed again the 2.40 version, followed again the guideline from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CanonCaptDrv190...

Re: Canon LBP-810 - not working under Mint 13 - 32bit

thanks a lot for your reply; I alrready tried Sivella's guide once, also with no luck; what I did today, was to uninstall the two .deb packages from the driver, and reinstall them afterwards (first the "common") I then again used sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP-810 -m CNCUPSLBP1120CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://l...

Canon LBP-810 - not working under Mint 13 - 32bit

I just recently changed the OS away from Redmond, and thus still am a newby on Linux. And so, I have problems getting my Canon LBP-810 printer to work (which I desperetly would need). Now I am running Mint 13 Cinnamon on a notebook with the following specs: CPU~Dual core Intel CPU T2600 (-MCP-) cloc...

Re: computer freezes/hangs when I plug in external monitor

I have a similar problem, with my laptop being in a docking station and having an additional monitor plugged in. Both monitors work fine as long as they are mirrored, but the moment I change this setting, the computer slows down extremely and the grahpics are disturbed. Usually it is just a matter o...
